I absolutely adore my car; I wear it like a glove. The only problem I have is that a sports car of this quality should smell of leather or perhaps petrol. I get in my '99 Chimaera and hot or cold, there's the smell, fibreglass with a hint of wet carpet. Am I doing something wrong, do they all smell like this?

Check that your zorst isn't touching the body somewhere, something seems to be misaligned somewhere

Mine smells of leather. There has never been even a hint of fibreglass smell.

Mine smell of leather. check around the engine bay and under the car, is the exhaust catching or burning the body. Check the heat Shields are intact and you haven't lost one, or they've slipped out of place.

Mine has always but always smelt a little of fibreglass...along with leather and oil. No wet carpet smell, mind.

I like it. Always makes me feel I am getting into a TVR - not some eurobox.

As others have already said, putting up with a hot fiberglass smell (whatever that is) is not a requirement of TVR ownership. So something must be causing this, start the search at the manifold end. The wetcarpet undertones of this particular bouquet may point to a past/current problem with water ingress and this is generally a less easy source to find. You may be better off treating yourself to a retrim (which will also isolate the cuprit area). Concealing wetcarpet smell is more or less impossible - it's always there to remind you, especially on those days when it's been parked in the sun with the roof on.

Hi

If you sort your exhaust and replace the carpets you shouldn't have these odours - if they persist change your aftershave or wear odour eaters.

Not sure about A Chim. But when the Cerb comes back from having work done on it, you tend to get "glue" smells from the sealant they use to refit the clutch fluid cover and various bulkhead holes etc.

From experience, the damp carpet smell is probably just that.

Sometimes the heat from the exhaust affects the side of the footwell so badly that the fibreglass goes porous and starts letting in engine bay fumes. This can also let enough heat in to damage the underside of the carpet which can release fumes.
