Even the big man had his hand in trying to make me keep my car today…but Dom wasn’t gonna let that happen,..and we beat him! I could hear the words being shouted at me in my head “YOU WILL KEEP YOUR CAR FOR ANOTHER YEAR!”

Bright and early I set off to the West Meon, half way there driving into a village, must admit I broke a little late coming into the village and as I was doing so I was taking a bend and a bit of mis-judgement and the front nearside wheel clipped the kerb, thus causing my back end to fish tail, causing the back wheel to be hit even harder onto the same kerb. Gladly I came to a stop without hitting anything else, in the middle of the road! Immediately I tried to start her up of course and get her onto the side of the road, but as it was in such a shake the car had tripped on the fuel cut off switch. So I then tried to push it but couldn’t budge it at all. So while trying to phone the RAC I continued to guide the traffic past my car, from both sides. A few drivers had helped me to try and move the car but it wasn’t budging. Eventually one kind lady offered her services, I told her it couldn’t be moved so she said her hefty daughter could help!! 3 of us plus 2 other drivers joined in and YES it moved! The back wheel never but the car did, the wheel just dragged along!, once I got the police out of the way who just gave me an insurance provider (they did a check and only the new owners name came up, which caused him to look at me funny! But I soon explained!) A kind villager lady even came out with a cup of tea for me J, probably an hour later the recovery truck turned up and because of the wheel not turning round it took him ages to get it on the flat bed, we then set off on our adventure to Dom at TVR Power doing a top speed of 56mph all the way. The truck driver even took part in the days events and wanted to buy a polo shirt!

I was so nervous turning up, what with the damage done and worrying that the sale of my car was maybe trashed at what had happened, but Dom assured me earlier on the phone he would get it fixed once we got there…top man!!! On arrival at TVR Power I have to say thanks to Owen Dobson for meeting me getting off the recovery truck with a beer and a pastie, helped calm me a little!! The next task was getting the car off the truck, with the wheel in a bad way and the car being so low it was a bit of problem. At this point I was kindly handed a glass of champagne to celebrate my last memories sitting in my Tuscan on top of a recovery truck! The wheel was changed on the flat bed, and then the truck driver asked for as many people as possible to stand on the flat bed (I think this was to make it more sturdy) so there I am sitting in my Tuscan with a glass of champagne with about twenty guys standing all around me. We were then able to get the car off at a low angle without the exhausts hitting the ground.

Measurements were taken and checks were made and I’m glad to say it was just the wheel that was damaged as it had taken the full impact of the kerb. The car needed two new wheels and one new tyre to get it “back on track”, luckily Dom had these all in stock and did me a very good deal. Iain Cole (Optimax Sniffer) wasn’t in his TVR so kindly offered the services of his Peugeot so we could go to ATS so they could fit the tyres to the wheels. When we got back the wheels were fitted, Steve the new owner had also agreed to get another back tyre to match the one I had replaced. Because of the slightly larger profile on the new tyres the suspension needed raising slightly which was also sorted. Car all finished, back to its former glory, deal finalised with new owner Steve and handed the keys over and settled the bill with Dom.

It was good to see what Dom and his team can achieve at the drop of a hat and keep 2 customers happy at once…all on his open day in front of everyone. Well done Dom.

Thanks so much to Jeremy B. for highlighting the sale of my car to Steve, and to Richie for my lift home in his loud blue chim.

Thanks again to Dom and his team and everyone else for helping what could have been a disaster and turning it into a delight.

Dom tells me he, as part of the 60th celebration, he is doing a 2 year warranty on his 2007 engine rebuilds, a lot more reassurance thrown in now I feel.

He also has a 10% discount on all parts to all TVRCC members

I'll pop across to kick the tyres of the Masser when I have a spare 10 minutes.

Wedge eh, I think you will be pleasantly surprised at how solid and planted a sorted wedge can feel, particularly after owning a 'skitish' Tuscan.

Sod's law and all that!!

Don't forget that a nice V8S can be just as enternaining as a wedge!!

You really couldn't have written it like that...what a way to end the Tuscan partnership! I saw the wheel refurbishment guy thinking ...please god no...please please don't let him be bringing me those wheels to refurb!!!

Anyway, glad you are OK and the sale went ahead....

But..I did have to do a double take when the mate of Steve, the fella who bought it (sorry I just didn't catch his name), the undertaker....had a sort of disappointed look when someone said loudly "well at least nobody was killed"...

It was really in the spirit of TVR just how keen everyone was to help and Dom & the TVR Power crew were just outstanding in every way....I did wish that I had my camera when you were sitting in the Tuscan on the back of the low loader with a glass of Champagne...and that irrepressible grin!!

Your Tuscan went out fighting...

Anyway, apart from Woody usurping all the trade stands as the center of attraction...the day was excellent...well done Dom and many thanks...and a big thanks to the unsung volunteers who kept the food and the TVR Champagne coming. Owen
