Brake advice needed
Discussion
I get my 98 chim 450 (42k) back today after a very long visit to the doctor. I had a battery, starter, clutch, camm, coil, 6k service, exhaust gasgets, pre-cats removed and a set of nitrons installed.
I was trying got get AP brakes put on the front but Steve Howard is haveing no luck sourcing calipers. The question is, what other good options do I have and where would I go in the Reading area. At £1,500 the AP option was high so low cost options would be great. The car is mainly for street but I do want to get in a few track days.

I went for HiSpec billett 4 pot calipers/285mm drilled & grooved discs on my Griff. Cost was appx 600quid from Peninsula.
The improvement over the standard brakes is outstanding, although as I do a fair few track days & seem to have a driving style which is hard on the brakes I would go for 300mm dics with hindsight (there is an issue with caliper/wheel rim clearance with 300mm AFAIK tho).

Wilwood Superlite 4-pot - superb brakes. Calipers themselves are relatively inexpensive, although you will still need the mounting brackets, bells, rotors etc which pushes the price up. I would budget about £800 for a professional installation although you can get the bits for less if you're confident about doing it all yourself.
I assume that this specific Willwood kit fits within the std 15inch wheel rim, do you have part No's for the rotors, bells and brackets required to fit the calipers to a '95 Griff. It would interesting to see the cost difference in buying the parts seperately ,I believe Rally Design supply the 300x32 disc with superlite 4 caliper kit for £664.38 although I think this will be the for one piece discs not rotors and bells.

It is also a very marginal fit - it fouls on some wheels and at the very least needs balance weight moved. Also factor in that someone has to drill the rotors and mill the brackets to the right profile which is a considerable amount of work.
If you buy the components from Wilwood, they come as a universal kit. You then have to work out the dimensions, you have to drill the stud holes and mill the surfaces to get the right offset. The brackets also need to milled to get the clearance needed. Been there when Tower View and I fitted the Wilwoods to my Wedge and now Griff.
I also think that you need to add the cost of new pads to that, and line fittings as well.
