My Auto Protect warranty runs out very soon, and I'd like to take out another one but I'm not sure what's available these days, especially in light of TVR's recent troubles.

My car's 4 years old now, and has now done over 34,000 miles. I'd like to make sure I'd be covered should something major expire, but don't want to get shafted with "it's normal wear and tear" should my engine go pop.

Does anyone have any suggestions for what the best warranty is, or what companies to avoid? Please mail me directly if it's the latter

I had a mare with the warranty that came with the car. Supposed to be fully transferable for a fee (£25). The company banked the cheque then told me they wouldnt transfer it. In the end the seller agreed to go halves with me on a new one. 1 and only claim (ecu IIRC) and they wouldnt pay out.

Ive now got the AA parts and labour one, and whilst only a £500 limit per claim (and 5? claims per year) I am about to make my second claim in 18 months. Only thing they have said is the garage must contact them with a price quote before starting the work

I did briefly consider the AA warranty, but I'm looking for a claim limit of around £5k in case of the engine going bang.

My only concern is whether the warranty companies would still cough up for this, as if not, then I might as well go for a cheaper one with a smaller limit.
