tvr warranty what's the situation? Any more updates?
Discussion
I had warranty work carried out in Feb this year, mainly cosmetic though.
It did end up costing the dealer approx £1000 though, as they damaged the paintwork on the car, which was rectified by a third party at the dealers expense.
To be fair, they didn't argue about either the warranty work or the repairs to the paint.
This was in Feb though, a lot's happened since I suppose....

I just had some work done on my Sag - i had to pay for the work that should have been covered by my warranty! Hopefully i can claim it back -if and when they sort it out! Surely we must be able to do something about it...they sold the cars with a warranty so we are entitled to use it! Hopefully something comes to light soon.
Guys,
Don't forget that the warranty is just part of the cover that you have when you by a new, or for that matter used car. There is the Sale of Goods Act which requires the car should be of merchantable quality and fit for purpose. A dealer will never tell you this of course. If you have a major/fundamental problem with a new car there are other legal remedies. The fact that a warrnaty is not being "backed" is not the end of the line.
Sometime ago I did offer to write an article for TVR Sprint to set out legal remedies for TVR owners should they have problems with new cars and warranties but they never took me up on my offer. I am a Direct Public Access qualified barrister so if anyone does have a problem I am happy to help (www.13kbw.co.uk). It seems to me that as TVR owners we have been treated very poorly. For those of you who have done the brave thing and bought new the least that you deserve is some consumer protection.

For the benefit of those of us who don't get Sprint, what does the article say?
Its not just what it says that has got a lot of peoples back up but more what it doesn't say.
There are Questions that need answers but all we get is spin/dross.
Having read April and Mays editions of Sprint the right Question were not asked. A missed opportunity especially when having these so called higher echelons of TVR at the table.
Sprint reminds me of Tony Blair, a pink poodle submissive to its American masters when what we really need is a British bulldog biting the truth out of these dubious Americans.

Basically it says that if you have a TVR 3-year warranty or have a deposit on a new TVR then go along to your dealer for great news - a super-duper modified warranty and a doubling of your deposit no less.
And while you're there I wouldn't be at all surprised if dusky maidens descend upon you and bring you to a crescendo of tantric ecstacy - orgasmic living for all believers.
You lucky, lucky Tivvers!

This game of rumour and counter-rumour displays an absolutely blatent contempt for the loyal customers who put the organisers of this whole sorry mess in a slightly better position than they would be otherwise. If you don't have enough customers you try and get more - whilst keeping the ones you already have.
I have a two year old TVR and I don't feel the need to have to talk to my dealer about the latest news- I expect it to be public. I'm still awaiting a reply from TVR to an email I sent two months ago, and phone calls where I was told I would get a call back because the person reponsible was a bit tied up
I've been a TVR driver for nearly 20 years and the way in which the current - hopefully now interim - managememt are treating customers ( or me at least) leaves me to the conclusion that they don't deserve to be in business and they have got what they deserve
A message to our Russian friend is that customer service in the UK is not in any way comparable to that which you would find in an ex command economy. We are well ahead of that and may be grateful for charity, but a warranty is not charity, it's a contract
To our English friends who have been at the helm - It's a good idea to plan to avoid the rocks you are aiming for , and if on them, remember that your customers are your friends and will support you until or unless you treat them like the enemy - which you appear to have done, and which will cause your erstwhile loyal customers to join the enemy - all your own fault.
To our American friends - remember - please- that most TVR sales have been in the UK and we don't want to be ignored. My experience has been that customer service standards in the US have collapsed in the last ten years. Americans may put up with being treated like dirt - the British won't
What's the situation with warranties? Any more updates? - We should not have to be having this debate - we should be treated with courtesy and respect and be told clearly and openly where we stand. This is not too much to ask - it is a minimum

This is not rumour or counter-rumour - this is straight from the editorial in this month's Sprint magazine - the mouth-piece of the TVRCC no less.
Go to your dealer is the advice from Derek Smith, editor of Sprint, and you will be given details of your modified warranty which will be honoured despite there being no legal requirement for the new owners to do so.
Better still TVR fans who have deposits with TVR will have them doubled - free money! They will be able to redeem their inflated deposit against one of the 4000 plus TVRs to be produced for 2008.

 Yeah, right......probably against one of the zero so-called TVRs to be produced for 2008.......
For the avoidance of doubt, the sarcasm was aimed at the quote, not Jay....
