Just jetwashed the Tuscan at the petrol station in Warlingham, Surrey (near Croydon) - paintwork is now covered in scratch marks!

Someone must have got grit in the brush, I've used this jetwash countless times before without a problem & I even brushed it up & down the side of the machine before using it to make sure no scrote had tied bolts into the bristles.

Not happy furious

To quote the Tuscan Owner's Manual. Page 58
Using a power wash
TVR Engineering do not recommend that you power wash any part of your Tuscan. However if you do decide to do so, do not spray the high pressure jet directly at the paintwork, the mirrors, the door release switches, the boot release switches, under the rear wheel arches, directly into the nose or directly at the door/window seals. Do not, under any circumstances, power wash the engine bay, as this will cause serious electrical problems.

You've got to be kidding - most places you see the 4x4 community cleaning under their wheel arches with those brushes! eek

...probably not what you need to hear at the moment! - Just say live and learn eh?

If you could explain how that is relevant to the brush causing scratches then go ahead. The manual says what it says because the door/window/roof seals are not good enough to withstand a px washer directed at them.

I have been using the same jetwash on my TVRs for the past 6 years without a problem, I posted the warning in the hope that it might save someone else from damaging the paint on their car - not so some smug tw@t could try & sound clever.

Hence why I always check the brush & also brush it up & down the side of the machine a few times, I also never use one that has any mud on the floor.

As my somewhat terse post above mentions, I've not had any problems with this one in the 6 years I've used it on TVRs (or the last 20 years on other cars/bikes in general).

It depends on the power of the washer. I've used a jet wash on my wife's Merc for years without a problem, but on her fathers Ford Mondeo, it took little chips out. He wasn't at all pleased!
