It needs a gearbox,(2nd gear gone) clutch needs sorting, body needs tidying, interior needs sorting, apart from that it is o.k........if it was worth fixing i would have thought fernhurst would have done it then sold it on.............
Seems rather bizarre that a reputable firm like Fernhursts would put an advert in for a car without even mentioning that 2nd gears fubar'd (with apologies to our colleague) - obviously the price indicates something's worng but why not come out and say what's wrong and say it would make a good project for someone but they have too much going through their workshop to do it themselves. They risk jeopardizing their reputation for what?

Fernhurst ARE reputable and the write-up clearly states: "it requires a gearbox repair to the 2nd speed gear"
....so please don't cast aspersions

I wasn't - the ad was modified after I posted.
The engine, if that the orginal without a rebuild, is the highest mileage I've ever seen for a SP6. If they'd all lasted that long, TVR might have had a chance.
I've had a 2nd gear issue and it cost £900. With the clutch and new cylinders / seals you're looking at £2k with £4.5K for the engine - easily a £7k job all in. The car wouldn't be £19K when done, that why their dumping it. It's maybe worth £9K. After all you could buy a nice newly rebuilt for £18K.

So,... why don't Fernhursts get the car sorted and put it up for sale with a warranty!! I smell shite!!
These are no doubt cars, that have been traded in that Fernies don't think are good enough to retail. Nothing wrong with that, most dealers do it, or send them to auction.
They had A red rose 2002 Cerbie, recently, at £17k. Bargain for someone who doesn't want a prepped car with guarantee etc.
FWIW, that original Tuscan ad, was only two lines long.

I got a newly Autocraft re-built Tuscan with 36 on the clock for £16k. I've had a few things done so far that I knew about, like tyres and brake pads and there's a few things I want to do for me. I think it will owe me £17k by that time so my thoughts are find one that's ok and pay the right price.
I got mine privatley though so dealer price for the same car would have been a few K more I would think.

hi, i'm in Oz, sold my cerbie and am looking for a new project. I was tempted by this one, but i don't know much about the SP6 engine rebuilds and what breaks and if the job could be done over here etc.? Can one get the parts and do it yourself? Anyone tried it?
Your thoughts please...

Hey Nick,we are a resourcefull lot downunder,so engineering parts won't be a problem, you'd be far better ripping out the sp6 in UK, repowering with a V8 or what I reckon would be awsome inkeeping with the car,xr6 turbo, and wind it up to 500hp no probs, plus the t5 would bolt straight up.
