Hi Guys, having a real strange one with a fuel leak on the Griff.

Its been parked in a mates garage for a couple of weeks. Went round the other evening to move it so he could get some stuff in his garage. Started fine and reversed down his drive (slight hill), got out leaving it running. Noticed on the garage floor and down the drive, wet marks. Smelt it and it was definitely fuel. Looked under the car and it's dripping pretty much bang in the centre (length) of the car.

When I got my garage to pick it up, I again had to start it to get it off the drive. This time when I started it there was not so many drips but still sticking of petrol.

This morning the garage has rang to say they've start the car and run it up to temperature with absolutely not sign of a leak. All the lines have been checked but not visible sign of a leak found.

Any ideas what's going on here?

Cheers.

Tell the garage to look again - If you think there is a fuel leak and they haven't found it, then they aren't looking hard enough. End of story.

Wouldn't want it to go up in smoke, would you?

Just a thought, when you found the leak, had you just filled up with fuel (and only travelled a few miles after). It might be possible that the fuel has expanded, and come out of an overflow, and run down the chassis / pipework.

my money would be on the fuel lines perishing at the engine bay end and fuel running down the pipe to drip off at its lowest point.

I had this with my chim. started it up in the garage strong smell of petrol, opened bonnet and its spraying through the pipe. left car and went out in the disco..

came back to look at it again , and it didnt seem to leak..

i replaced the pipe and it was perished at both ends...

But even when perished they dont leak all the time....

I'd take a very very close look at the pipes as this is the main cause of tivs going up in smoke when they do...

The Garage I use have been great with everything to date, so reckon they would of had a good look. Hadn't just filled it with Fuel either.

Wondering now whether the fuel regulator may of jammed but released it's self on whilst on the journey on the back og the garage trailer. Just a thought from looking at other threads elsewhere...
