We all focus on the cost of the premium, but would be good to know tales of anyone out there who's had to make a claim on their Tiv or any other car for that matter.

Worth hearing about the good aswell as the bad.

Claimed for the XJR when I hit a deer a couple of years back; as it was a write-off I didn't get a courtesy car (standard) and a cheque came pretty quick but for only two thirds of the value. They expect you to fight for the rest, which as their business model proves generates the least loss for them as I couldn't be bothered and bought another car thinking that I'd get round to chasing them when I remembered - which reminds me...

Admiral on that occassion.

Ditto! I got deliberatly run off the road when I had my T350, causing just short of £20k of damage. Privilege were amazing, one call at the start of the process from me and they did the rest. I didn't hear from them again until a letter came through the post confirming my NCD would not be affected. No quibbles, no queries, they just got on with it.

Has made me stick with Privilege ever since, becasue it's good to know the service is there when you need it.

Hi Chris, my Cerb is with Classicline and as you know has just caught fire. They have been great, assessor appointed and despatched quickly, report done the next day, insurers made a positive decision 2 days later which I think is very good. Dave

That's good to know. Did Privelege insist on a Tracker? The last time I was insured with them (for only 2 months) they didn't mention Tracker, then sent me through a letter to say that I must send proof when I'd had it fitted and until I did, my car wasn't insured yikes.

No tracker was required, just proof of the CAT 1 alarm. At the time Privilege insisted on a tracker for all cars insured for £40k or over, so seeing as I paid £40k for the T350 (I bought it discounted brand new in 2005) I simply insured if for £39,999.99 That way I exposed their loophole and wasn't required to fit a tracker.

Thank you for that - I will call them for a quote then.

This is a good emphasis for an insurance thread clap.

I claimed on directline when my Chimaera got rear ended. They took the bits away to the fixing garage of my choice. Damage was 11.5k & they agreed to write it off for a very decent 13k based on me looking on autotrader & quoting them prices of similar spec, age, mileage cars. They paid up straight away. Generally no hassle. Even the legal cover was decent & I successfully sued for damaged computer equipment that was smashed in the boot of the car.

Haven't claimed for an own fault accident though, so can't comment on what they're like for that.

Its pretty refreshing to hear so many positive experiences.
We all hear tales of dreadful offers when cars are written off, poor service etc.
Doesn't seem to be happening here.

I claimed for a fault accident last year with A-Plan (though Groupama) and they were fantastic, repairs approved quickly, no arguing about choice of garage etc...

I have made two claims ( over 20 years ), niether were TVR's, and both were write offs.

Norwich Union direct, very very good. Paid a fair value for the car ( very slightly less than I had paid for it 6 months earlier ). Paid very promptly, and would have paid quicker had I made my mind up quicker ( I was considering buying the salvage off them ).

Alliance Cornhill. In contrast with above, very very slow. Made a low offer for the car, and invited me to argue for the correct value ( as above ). Then tried to turn the claim down as it was an import ( even though the broker was aware it was an import when I got the quote, I found it difficult to prove this to the underwriter ). Eventualy, they did pay out, and after another 2 months of phone calls and e mails, they even gave a bit more money to make the value a bit more realistic.

I'm with Direct Line to insure my Chimaera.
Had a non-fault accident earlier this year. They did all the leg work, I could choose my garage (Ewelme coachworks was my choice), they sorted a courtesy car for the 7 weeks mine was away (Mercedes-Benz) and there was very little hasstle at all. Car was repaired and fully resprayed, total bill £8,200.

Would recommend them, and with business use for the Chim, they have always been much cheaper than the so-called "specialists" who advertsie in Sprint.
