The 3 counties TVR group held a rolling road session yesterday and the Typhon came. What a car! The design features on it, the engineering. Why weren't more made and how the heck can a company producing those go out of business.

That does look great. The interior also looks like brilliant. Special - but grown up.

As you say. A shame there aren't more of 'em.

Sadening to see the car that was to be a 600BHP monster, supercar slayer is now just another 330BHP TVR frown

The owner told me the plan was to supercharge them, but it never happened to the two made.

I was always under the impression Smolenski canned the project when he bought TVR to concentrate on the Sagaris & Tuscan2.
I think he had a supercharger fitted to the orange one, but it overheated. Don't think he was aware he owned a car company and they could make vents etc hehe

One for the record
when Nickolai first took over TVR, The Typhon had an order book for approx 50 units but the pre-production tooling wasn,t up to the job. To get these numbers up we did numerous costings for producing the production tooling and as the Typhon/Tuscan R chassis shared the same backbone tunnel chassis as the Tuscans albeit with different front and rear crossmembers for the new wishbone suspension pickups , the bodywork tooling had been modified quite substantialy and required lots of massaging to create each of the body componants also each one was assembled by hand to the few drawings and dimensions that existed as there was no cad data or fixtures for the bodywork or any substate componants to aid assembly or multiple manufacture, and as such it took us approx two to three months to assemble each one.that is racecars permitting also the R was subject to evolution design as Peter required e.g traction control sensors fitted but never set up or used as im aware, the six speed sequential box(The Beach Box)which gave the test drivers more than a few grey hairs as it picked the most unreasonable times to lock up fully! To the awesome power of the supercharged version which was very very quick and had the ability to put the most stupid grin on anybody who drove it silly. but alas had so much heat it couldnt be contained enough due to dimension and budget constrictions (read not a pot to p** in)all in all i think we did very well to do what we did and Peter got exactly what he wanted out of it . But in summary it still needed a lot of work, money and engineering expertise to make it a feasible production car and NS and DO did not think it warrented money investing in it .
But from a personal point of view , the Graham Brownsmokin inspired mad cartoon lines and bodywork stance to the Chris Runcimen drink precise sum of the parts stiffened body/ chassis package this is the one car that should of been made!as payback from the development of this car would have been 10 fold! imho any way but what do we know?
