Anyone have any tips for bringing the colour back in patches of faded carpet trim? Mine is prussian blue but has always been a bit "yellow" in some places, (looks like fading from sunlight) so I'm wondering if I can sort it or would I have to have a re-trim?

Thanks in advance,

Andy

Andy - for blue I used a dark blue suede shoe dye, from Timpsons I think, and it worked an absolute treat on my blue carpets which like yours had sun bleached a gold in certain places.

Just make sure you fix the colour by using a hair dryer and you should not get any colour lift onto clothing etc. I did mine a few months ago and no problems.

Good luck with it thumbup

Hi Andy

Sorry I don't know much about faded carpets but I was hoping to catch up with you on 'the Kent Run' last weekend.

I looked out for you at Maidstone but our group headed off before you turned up. I then saw your car at Rye just as we were leaving. No worries I thought I'll introduce myself at the BBQ, but did not realise you were not doing the whole route.

Catch up with you next time then!

Cheers

I've just used the shoe dye on the piping around my mats which was light grey (dark blue carpet, light and dark blue leather trim, black piping on the rest hurl )

Worked a treat but the bottle is tiny and would probably only dye, say, a pair of shoes. How can you buy enough to treat all the carpets without spending a fortune?

Andy. Know what you mean about the search. many times I've gone looking for a topic I know exists without success.

Thanks for the ideas Paul, to be honest I am going to go down to a local Timpsons and get some of their navy suede dye which I have been told does the job when fixed in place with a hairdrier.

John - I know what you mean! I was looking out for you too but being in the last group and not going to the BBQ meant that I missed a lot of people that I was hoping to say hi to. Never mind, next time eh! biggrin

Cheers

Hi Andy - just to give you a steer - one of the little bottles would probably touch up the colour of say both sides of a carpetted transmission tunnel plus a little spare or possibly a pair of carpetted inner door cards so you may need a few to complete what you need.

Good luck with it anyway

Thanks for the head's up Craig, I have just bought 2 of the little bottles from Timpsons (that's all they had) - will try to get a chance to have a go on a less conspicuous area tomorrow,
