Steering rack needs replacing / overhaul.

Anyone recommend a place near Banbury whose labour rates are reasonable to do this?

Thanks,

Tim.

Had mine done at Silverstone Performance located at the circuit.
Not a cheap part let alone labour !

Any comments, good or bad, on Top cats or Silverstone performance? - Spoke to both today, Both have same labour rates of £50/hr.

Topcats seem to be out of the country until tuesday - was on his way to Spa, and suggested that I left car and keys with the security office.... not sure about that!

As with any garage, its not the hourly rate so much as how long it takes them to do the job. Make sure you get at least an estimate if not a full quote otherwise you may get a nasty surprise

Will do. Both said 4-5hrs and before taking it in i will ensure we agree a maximum time it would be.

Worst price i have had was 5 hrs at £75/hr, best was 4hrs at £50/hr.

I am now having a think about other things i want to do to car while it is in. Probably get radiator replaced as fins rotten and holes where they have fallen out. Was recommended that it would need doing some point before the summer when I bought the car, so been expecting this expense. Has been ok so far, and no leaking etc - but does look pretty bad so may as well do that while they have it in as i'm sure the car will get very hot during the summer!.

Have got another car i can use for a bit, so will have a think over the weekend and speak to garages properly again next week i think.

Topcats is a better location for me as half way between home and work, but they are out of the country till tuesday. Was on way to Spa when I spoke to him yesterday.

APM at Liphook (TVR Indie) just did mine for about £230 I think.
Can't remember if that included labor or not cos total was around £2K with all the other bits I had done!

I had a refurbed non-PAS rack fitted.

Guglielmi Motorsport in Daventry. Top blokes, know their stuff and charge about £40.00 per hour, ex VAT.

Same as mine. Identified at the 48K main service although I knew something was wrong. Silverstone took about 2 weeks to fix as well as the other stuff as it was sent to TVR Power for complete refurbishment after someone elselet them down. They do have a courtesy car if that makes a difference. Not sure Topcats have.
