I am a happy man. I have just bought back my Griff 500 51 out of final 100 from a guy in Elgin. I live in Arundel so I had the pleasure of driving some great roads back home. I have only been without the car for 8 months and had to buy it back. What is it about the Griffith? It was odd actually, I thought I would buy a Tuscan then thought again. Then I thought I would buy a Griff and found a nice one at Fernies but it was sold. I took the Mrs out for dinner that night and she said that she would write to the guy to see if he would sell it back. The next day my old Griff was for sale on here and I bought it. I still cannot believe it. Now looking forward to the Growl.

Thanks guys. Yes I think 57 was at Hawthorns when I bought mine but I distinctly remember it being black, but could be wrong. There are no black SEs around the 51 mark so where is it?! Lesson learned now I love the Griff but there is something special about having one of the last. By the way any advice on re-spraying? I had the front nose done a couple of years ago and the job was very poor. They blended up to and including the wings, so I am thinking about having the whole front end done, but is it better to re-spray the whole car or can the paint shop work wonders and blend the front with the old rear? Any advice on paint would be appreciated.

I look forward to a hoon in West Sussex.

He was a bit of a car nut. He and his father have some wonderful cars: vintage and racing Astons, Jaguars etc. They run a car museum in Elgin which is a must see if you are ever that far north. He was also 6 foot 7 and had back problems. The Griff did not help this and he was looking to get one of those Porsche cars, never heard of them personally smile The car had hardly done any extra mileage and was sitting there in this fantastic garage with all these other wonderful cars so it was in good company but not being used.

I have the original bill of sale at home and from memory mine was originally supplied by Hexham Horseless. I can check , but it is definitely Starmist Blue. I got it from David Gerald. Now residing on Hants/Sussex border

Nothing - a matter of taste. Ripping the piss out of other Griff ownwers is what we do when we tire of torturing Chim & Porker owners!! Note the winky. wink

Every Griffith owner should convert their headlights to the SE spec - Ian at Sportmotive does a great SE pod and 7" headlight conversion kit.

Not so sure about the SE tail light treatment - I think the inverted Cavalier tail lights actually suit the Griffith's arse-end.

I'm currently planning on buying a Lambo and the wife said "thank God you're getting rid of that noisy Griff", to which I replied "I'm keeping the Griff - hell I'd never sell it". I'm currently still in the doghouse!!!

Back in 2002 I was riding my motorbike into Nottingham along Radcliffe Road, when I spied a Black Griffith, with 51 plates on it. I pulled alongside and said to the driver "I didn't think they still made those", to which he replied that it was one of the last 100.

We bought Wol (a '96) a year later.

It must have been seeing that one that re-awakened the memory of that test drive back in '92.
