Q: "How many miles to the gallon does it do?"
A: "0 to 60 in 4.8"

Q: "There's not much room in the back, is there?"
A: "No. You're walking home anyway."

Q: "Is it faster than my N reg Peugeot 205i?"
A: "Only up to 150 mph."

Mrs Falfa is talking to a (male) colleague at work. After seeing and hearing the Tiv pull up, and being informed that the engine is a 4 litre Rover V8, he asks:

"Oh - is it a diesel?"

Amazing yes, talking to a 45 year old MALE last week, been driving for ages so he said, didnt even know why a TVR was called a TVR, though everyone knew that one?

I was once topping up the coolant, only needed half a pint so I used an Evian bottle that was handily sitting on the kitchen windowsill.

As I was pouring it in my neighbour wandered past. "Oooo, do you use mineral water in it then?". "Of course. I used to use Perrier but the bubbles confused the thermostat and it thought it was overheating".biggrin

I've had the 'is it a diesel? - It doesn't sound anything like my car' before... I think I just sighed and fell silent with a little shake of the head, 'no, its not a diesel'.

Another good one was when I was at my bro's school to watch him in a rugby game and on the way out I scraped a speed bump with the exhaust with lots of people walking either side of the car. Upon hearing the scrape I heard a very snooty know-it-all sounding mother say 'that's what you get for having low profile tyres...' (standard size 55 profile tyres)

On one occasion leaving some friends house, I got into the car and wound down the window to exchange the usual goodbyes.

Received the comment " That sounds great, it really whirrs beautifully"

I had to inform my friend that that was actually the sound of the electric windows and the engine sounds like this....................

( This is not meant to sound insulting, they are great friends, just not really car orientated )

Slightly off topic in a similar vein. I had to go to Ford parts to get a spare Crank Sensor for the Tuscan Racer.

me) Hi, I need a crank sensor, here's the FORD part Number and the sensor
Ford Blokey) Whats it Off
me)Thats really not going to help you...hehe
Ford Blokey) Is it a ford part
Me) Erm yes thats why i quoted you the ford part number, showed you the Ford Logo on the part and came to Ford Parts Department
Ford Blokey) Erm I'll have to ask someone....
Ford blokey 2) You want a crank sensor
me) Yep, this one
Ford Blokey 2) great, yep I can get you one tomorrow,
me ) Ta..

now I wouldnt mind but it took 20 mins to get to blokey 2 !!!!

Again not the Chim but we pulled into a garage once with the old Taz Racer

bloke) Hi, nice car do you race it
me) cheers, Yep we've been out today and bagged a couple of wins
bloke) Yeah I always fancied a TR7
me) erm its actually a TVR Tasmin
bloke) (glances over shoulder at car) Yeah But they are basically the same car
me) well they do share headlight motors, but other than that one has a steel body and a 4cylinder engine, the other a tubular chassis grp body and a V6, so yeah basically the same car hehe

Im sure he didnt believe me!!!

Took a friends son out in the Sagaris ( he's about 17 ) and collected him from Tescos where he works. The car only had 900mls on it, so took it steady. It was still crackling and popping on the overun though and sounding excellent!! I caught a worried look on his face as this was happening and asked if he was ok. He suddenly said " is that just a hole in the exhaust and will they fix it, or is it because it's a deisel". I wasn't sure whether to just open the door and kick him out, or feel slightly fatherly towards the young man's ignorance. " You'll understand in time my son, as youth is wasted on the young". He was nevertheless gratefull for the experience. After that, I didn't give many joy-rides!

I was in the local automotive parts department and looking for some plugs and leads for my S3. I asked the kindly fellow if he had the above items for a TVR to which he said "I dont have any in but I can get them" and quoted a stupid price. I asked them if he had the Granada plugs & lead which he did, for £30 less. I'll take those instead then.

I hate the usual, "Broken down much then?" It's almost as if they want to piss on your fire. Next time I meet their wife, can I ask, "She a crap shag then?"
