Anyone know what happened to this car? That reg no. doesn't bring anything up with the DVLA. Anyone here own it on a different reg?

If my memory serves me correctly it was this car that did 0-100mph in 8 seconds dead. What sort of engine mods had it had?

Probably more like a healthy engine with carefully selected gearing ('box, diff final drive) and sticky tyres.

Not sure if this is the car you are after, but Mani's car used to reside on S6 TVR and was one of the press cars.

I guess you are refering to the Black Tus S Mk1? No idea what happened to it but it was used in all the mags etc.. S6 TVR is a "house" number plate and I think has appeared on a few cars.

It had Toyo road legal slicks, "Trampio" I think.

Such as? What had been done to it? I remember someone saying that it would have to have a genuine 400+ bhp to do an 8 second 0-100. They worked it out using some car simulator software.

The Tuscan s was quoted at 390 and I seem to recall it measured up well on the rolling road. But I'm sure it was tricked up and quite rightly so. Rave reviews and column inches = sales! Sir William Lyons was the master of that. The only "standard" E-Types that ever did 150 mph were those press demonstrators.

IIRC it was that car (the black one) that was taken to Germany by EVO when they tried to go 200mph. I think the guy bailed out at about 180 scared to death.

I think it was the ex-factory chap on here "rsmexico" that was giving that car it's 20 mile shake down test run from the factory and he could not believe how the engine in it revved and sounded and he said it was quite obviously not a standard S engine. Remember the factory also built the race Speed 6 engines with all their trick high quality, high performance components ie pistons, rods etc, they would also modify the block for extra water cooling at the back of the block for the No 6 bore which is prone to overheating due to lack of water cooling.

My Tuscan had these 'trampio' tyres on when i bought it,while i can vouch for them being very grippy, there directional stability was sh*te, very scary down a country road, chasing camber's and being very nasty under braking just changed all 4 for toyo's and it is a lot better stability wise

I bought that plate originally, on behalf of a dealer that I worked for. We were going to put it onto a S6 Cerb, then the factory found out we had it and suggested that we should pass it on to them.

I am the original registered owner of the plate!

( rubbish claim to fame really!)

nothing theoretical about it. that car was measured by autocar as hitting the ton in 8.08 seconds. That's quick down anyone's driveway.

That was indeed the press car for the new Tusc Convertible, and in speaking to Mani, was the one used at both MPH 05 and on Top Gear with the red smoking tyres.
