You don't normally need any insurance for trackdays. The last time I looked into it it cost £250 per day plus £5000.00 if you crash. Did'nt bother with it in the end. Trackday rules if you crash your walking home.

Swap your policy for one with A Manning. I did, reduced my premium by 300 quid AND got tack day cover thrown in.

Some insurers cover you if the organisers are members of the ATDO; beware - MSV and Donington PArk *aren't*. Also, some insurers require you to inform them of a track day.

Competition Car Insurance sell track day cover; call 0115 941 5255. I paid £97 for £13K worth of cover for an evening at Bedford recently.

A word of caution, I think they only cover TVRCC organised track days - and there aren't many of them!

Not true. They cover any and all ATDO events.

And covered me on a recent MSV organised Brands track evening smile

Thanks for correcting me on that. I could have sworn I read somewhere that it was TVRCC only. Sounds like a good package then!

Hagerty's
Not only are they the lowest premium, track day cover is an optional extra at an additional 10% of premium. £1000 excess while on circuit.

Well, TBH, when I joined thats what I was told, then on joining they said TVRCC event and any ATDO member event. Then when I phoned recently about MSV they told me MSV were no longer ATDO BUT would still cover me.

Top service IMHO smile

I'm with them. I don't recall the 10% premium for track cover (which is damn good though). But, 1000 smackeroonies excess! That's, well, excessive! smile

I think dedicated track day policies have stupid high excesses too though.

When I took the Hagerty's policy out I did it over the phone.
The guy I was talking to offered it as an extra. He mentioned that if you changed the policy mid-term there's a £25 administration charge.
He therefore recommended taking it out at that time.
IIRC the policy has NO excess for road use and was several hundred pounds cheaper than the next quote.
As I paid £418 for a 500 Griff with £15000 agreed value I was happy.
A clean licence and 15 years no claims helped.
All things considered, my choice was no track day insurance, £15000 of my money at risk, plus any liability like armco damage.
The alternative was pay a premium of £41.80 and limit my liability to £1000
Perhaps I could have got a lower excess for a higher premium. But with separate track day premiums 4 or 5 times higher, I only have to have a few years without an expensive off to be quids in.
Add to that the fact that if it did go badly wrong, the agreed value would stop all the haggling with a separate insurer.
Provided it is a second car, you are able garage it and limited mileage is ok then Hagerty's are hard to beat.
The only thing I can't comment on is how they are post accident.
Hopefully I will never find out.
I even got an ex-TVR owner as the telephone sales guy!

Well I called Mannings when my last premium was up for renewall. For me Adrian flux was considerably cheaper than Manning. So for everyone saying mannings is always the cheapest. It ain't nec so. smile
