I have heard of both Rob and James, lots of good things about James and er... lots of good things about James

I'd also suggest you have a chat with James. I'm sure others will be along to comment soon (Zippee...)

And I, on the other hand, have nothing but good to say about Rob and an indifferent view of James (admittedly from a very brief encounter)

I too have been trying to get hold of roB with no joy.

I have now spoken to Michael Caine, recommended by gugliemi motorsport and he really seems to know his stuff.

He raced TVRs with Steve Gugliemi and has worked at TVR dealers and done lots of upgrade work for TVRs.

PM me if you want his mobile number

yes - though I can understand why. Just a shame it makes it harder to give a more balanced view.

I have exactly the same question - have these people

findasportscar.co.uk

Gone out of business? link never works - are they recommended?

I was advised to expect to pay about £500 premium for using a sourcing specialist - seems worth it to me. Is this price about right?

Rob found me an absolute minter of a 450 Chim and I was very pleased with his services (he is findasportscar.co.uk no idea why the linky doesnt work). As with all services you will always hear good and bad , all I can comment on is my experience which was very good.

TBH its the same with garages, a lot of the indies (for example) are well thought of on here yet when I have tried them they have been very mediocre and left me disappointed.

I guess the trick is to find an inspector , garage (whatever) that more people say good things about than bad :-/

I also used Rob who found me an absolute corker of a car and he did everything possible to help me find it. Cannot fault his service!

Unfortunately I have been in touch with a friend who, himself, has had a bad experience with one of the stated names *cough cough RI cough cough* and hes recently been in touch with a few more people who utilised his services and told some shockingly bad stories about the things missed

Shame really

If I can be of assistance, sourcing and inspecting cars is a service that I am happy to offer. I'm damned fussy though and brutally honest so it may take a little while to find exactly what you want but I can guarantee that not much will get past me.
A few people here know my credentials if you need references. Email me if youre interested.
