Years ago my first Chimaera was covered by a Warranty Holdings Total Spirit warranty. These guys have gone but does anyone do anything similar for TVRs?

I did a quick bit of research into this before

https://www.surfandprotect.com TVRs not covered

http://www.warrantydirect.co.uk No chance buster, not even on the list

http://www.warrantywise.co.uk you're having a bubble right?

I did find a company that charged £1000ish per year for a policy that paid out about 2500 max. Cant find them again now but it was a rip off.

Best I found if you're an AA member was the breakdown cover for £65 per year which pays the first 500 of any breakdown reapirs. (better than a slap in the face)

alternatively I just found this bunch, higher premium £1500 max per claim. although I didnt get a "proper" quote cover "starts at" (i.e no er gets that price buster! smile ) £199

Interesting. I'm an AA member and pay £200 a year (due to excessive call outs) frown

I have recently had the Tuscan collected and delivered to Power for repair. Will the AA cover the 1st £500 or is this an added extra?

Cheers for that!

I just tried Quoteline Direct:

"Sorry, but this cover can not be applied as your vehicle has been excluded"

Nice smile

The AA thing is worth knowing about though, are there lots of T&C's to stop them paying the first £500? Like using franchised dealers to do the work, etc, etc.

I used the AA parts and labour policy -it's an extra you can add to your relay membership.

It pays out upto £500 (£475 after excess) per claim with upto 5 claims. Total max payout of £1500.

They always payout (I am on my 5th Claim in 2 yrs) and Dom at Power usually handles it for me.

You have to stick to the manufacturers service schedule for the AA cover. But you'd have to be a nut job not to do that with a TVR anyway! smile

thumbup I have one at the moment - premium super exec, I think. It was negotiated as part of car purchase, so I'm not sure if they deal directly with general public. If they do the deal is about £500-700 for up to £2k cover and unlimited claims.

And you can only claim if they have recovered your breakdown, as I found to my cost on the first claim I made. Managed, somehow, to get the car to the menders with a slave seal problem, when I should have called the AA out rolleyes

Havent made that mistake since wink

Shame they withdrew the £99/£1000 limit product. I really could have done that some damage hehe
