I'm expecting the repost police on this one, but just saw this on the Coys website:

Absolutely mental. I hope it goes to a real TVRophile, not some Saudi collector who will just shove it in his collection...

There's also the small matter of the rest of the cars there as well - pant-tentingly nice cars in that showroom...

This was on ebay about ~6 months ago, IIRC it started about £100k and sold for about £155k. Was also featured in EVO about 5 years ago

I love the description, particularly "To the un-initiated, forward motion will largely be sideways"

If a car ever looked like a 'double-hard b*stard', surely this is it?

Think I'll go for:

for an every day driver.

Ooh, that's the North Prom in the background. They must have driven it round the back of the Metropole hotel for that first pic....

If your willing to abuse you classic gullwing merc, AMG will keep the bodyshell and put in modern brakes, suspension, engine etc, although some might see that as sacriledge.

To my mind, leaving it sitting in a garage is more "abuse" than using it every day. Cars were made to be driven.

It's this whole bit that I really like!

There is a procedure to starting this monster however. An immersion heater warms the engine oil from the mains. Twenty minutes later, press the black button to start the ignition and fuel pumps and again to turn the engine over. Tickle the throttle and BAM. A V12 fed with scaffolding off-cuts and rocket fuel. The four side-exit exhausts banging in turn. Low down torque is flexible though with enough to move off with just the lightest of touch on the throttle. To the un-initiated, forward motion will largely be sideways but the EVO test driver was clearly made of sterner stuff. With the engine on-cam, Northamptonshire was treated to TVR Heaven with Spitfire sound effects. But this is also registered for the road.

it used to make over 1000 BHP, or is easily caable of it anyway?, assuming it could get traction at the time and was geared correctly, woul this be a potential Veyron matcher/beater?.

When the first speed12 came out Peter Wheeler (then boss of TVR) took it home one day to try. Story goes that he was so frightened by it that he wouldn't put it into production. Hence why that one is the only road legal model!

Can't remember them doing in EVO but will try and dig it out when I get home. Same car is featured in GT4 so you could try and get some VR times!
