I am trying to fettle my throttle pot and airflow meter as described here --> http://www.v8engines.com/carbs-2.htm#setting-up

But for the air flow it says 1.0 --> 1.5 for non cat / 1.5 with a tornado ECU / 1.8 cat

Mine was 1.84 when I checked.

1996 Chim 400.

I'm assuming mine is a cat and therefore is nearly right.

But it has had a custom exhaust and probably other bits I don't know of - I have no idea with the ECU.

Help...?

I have done this check on mine, but took the readings from the ecu plug rather than the AFM itself. It is better this way, as you get to measure what the ECU is actually seeing. My only other concern with the test you have linked to , is that it just shows one static reading, rather than what the AFM is putting out under various loads.

Even so, I'm sure RPI wouldn't publish duff advice on their website. If they state 1.8v for a caat engine and you're getting 1.84v, then I would suggest it is adjusted perfectly. 0.04v is nothing. I don't know if you have Steve Heath's bible, but that explains the test a bit further. The voltage should increase with the volume of air going through the AFM. Just out of interest, can I ask why you've decided to check these voltages? Do you have some sort of running problem?
