Hi all,i'm looking for recommendations of bodyshops who could do the paintwork of the car i'm having restored, which is L110BFV,the factory Griff, once run long term by John Ravenscroft. The paintwork is a little different,in that it is candy apple blue, and some bodyshops are refusing to take it on,as candy apple paint is a bit of a specialist job.I'd be really greatfull for some names of those who come recommended,in particular those who have had candy apple paintwork carried out. Many thanks,Mike

Hi AJP

There's a guy in Ireland who does all sorts of custom paint jobs and he's quite reasonable to pay.

Is that the same sort of paint job that was on the early press Sagaris? - because I remember it being quoted at about 15K!!!

It would be great to get it exactly right to preserve this historic car's originality - Gerbil was probably involved in the original painting so he would be my first port of call.

Cheers for the replies all.I've tried Surface and design(Gerbils team),and i'm waiting for the quote to come back.I'm just getting quotes from others as well and wondered what the choices were really,as it's surprising how many wont do it.Distance doesn't matter realy in the scheme of things,i just want the best job done i can get at a sensible price.

In which case give my suggestion a call smile
Having checked out their previous work prior to having mine resprayed, upon having been recommended them on here, I was very very impressed at the quality of their outfit.
Now I've only just seen my car completed, and to say I'm over the moon is the understatement of the century.

I'm not one for giving plugs ordinarily, but I feel they're more than worthy and struggle to see how a car could be painted better looking at the quality they achieve.

Mike,
Options 1 in Brosgrove from what I've seen have done some excellent jobs. Worth a try and not too far to go.

It may be worth speaking to Adrian Venn as I know he knows a very good sprayer who specialises in GRP.

Have you tried PHers Eddie4.2 (used to own the orange Cerb) or Anatol? Both are in the trade...

Newlun design, near silverstone. Did my Cerb and I have seen several cars sprayed by him, all good.

My car's in at "Surface and Design" as we speak. I popped over there today with Heath to have a look how they were getting on, it looks a good job already and they're not rushing it, letting glass dry, then gel etc etc.
Should be back for next week I'll let you know what I think.
I am a fussy bugger by the way.

little bit on the pricey side but the quality of the work more than makes up for itsmile As I said I went there on recommendation and couldn't recommend them enough now (as you might have guessed)

Obviously depends what you're after, if it's just a standard respray I'd guess at somewhere around the 2.5k mark for a chim, but you're best off asking them.
Obviously for the fancier stuff you'll pay a bit more. Ask to see the house of kolor chips and I bet you can't resist, I couldn't hehe

If you're asking me. The job is excellent. All the more difficult as it wasn't a full respray and they had to match existing paintwork. See the two pics below, the rear wing is the panel that was sprayed, the door is original colour.
