Wonderwheels, you just cannot beat it.
I have tried turtle wax stuff and was not to happy. The Meguiars stuff is good.
Oddly, I have also had good results with Jif bathroom spray mouse.
However I would recommend wonderwheels first, it is also good for cleaning the carbon off the stepper motor. My only advise is get a better brush than the one they suppy. Oh and wash it off your skin.

Cif Bathroom Mousse for alloys and OZs as Wonder Wheels, etc. are too harsh - Lemon's better than Lime.
For tyre walls use Meguiars Endurance - not too sticky looking and lasts well. Or just black shoe polish. Cheaper than proprietory products.

Wonder Wheels is great stuff. Doesn't work well on your skin, though, and you will soon learn why when you first splash some...it also bleaches your clothes, even if you're not planning the 'spotted' T-shirt and jeans look, so be sure to wear suitable 'car cleaning' attire...that or be really careful 
I like the Mountain Fresh Cif/Jif.

Wonder Wheels is very harsh and so I am using good old soap and water.
I had a BMW and used Wonder Wheels on a regular basis. it was only when I got the spare out i realised just how corrosive it was, the wheels had gone very dull.
So on my Tamora I only use car shampoo. Whatever is left in the bucket after washing the car but I have a sponge especially for the wheels.
Any tar spots can be removed with Autoglym intensive tar remover and my spiders look good after a polish and it helps keep them easy to clean.

Please under no circumstances ever use any form of wheel cleaner.They ALL use concentrated forms of acid,and in time will strip the wheel of its laquer.My cousin does wheel refurbishing as part of his business,and he normally does about three sets of wheels a week solely down to the laquer being stripped of the wheels by various wheel cleaners.Use warm soapy water,or for more engrained dirt use a degreaser.For tyres i found turtle wax gel to be the best,apply with a sponge.It stops all that sillicon being sprayed over the wheels like with many of the other tyre cleaners.

Recently I wanted to get all the squashed flies off the lower front of my car, then had a thought that flies are organic so what would work well on them? Answer: that new type of (wait for it) oven cleaner called Dr Beckmans Oven Rescue -- works a treat. Non-toxic and safe on your skin.
Spray it on leave it for a couple of minutes it digests the organic matter and then wash it off with plenty of water. Give it a try, you will be surprised but all at your own risk!!
