Could this be the cause ??

Not dripping/oil marked, its a leak when running!!!! mostly over the back plate & offside of the diff
Re-sealed the back plate & new drive shaft seal...
I have a horrible feeling thats not the problem & its a crack in the casing or back plate but i cant see any...

Not a lot of margin on seal seat & I’d rather sort it properly if I can…
More trying to find out if this would cause a big leak or if i've got a crack
Appreciate the bump & your thoughts
Never seen a crack on a diff that wasn't obvious after a wash(the diff More trying to find out if this would cause a big leak or if i've got a crack

) - if you know it is coming from that seal could there be too much movement laterally on the shaft - bearing wear etc forcing a good seal to leak?ETA which flange are we talking about here?

Off-side drive shaft..........if you have established a good seal fitted correctly won't cure it and that is defo where the leak is - anything wrong with shaft, vibration due to CV(?) causing lateral movement in bearing - leak.
and another bump in the interests of a better suggestion

New C/V's fitted as the others were worn, not massively but slight rotational movement. not that much movement on the shaft so don't think the roller bearing are shagged enough to cause it...

Any thoughts on this one?

A decent local engineering shop could crack test it with dye or ultrasonics.... It can also be welded up and reground if it's made from unobtanium
I'm just really hoping it isn't as i dont want to pull it out again !! Actually its more the put it back up

If it is that's certainly repairable.Seasider said:

Can this be done sensibly working off the ground with some decent stands etc, as in no lift?
Talking Chim here(but probably similar), are we talking skid pan off, exhaust off, anti roll bar off, prop end off, shaft ends off, sensor off?
Does the diff(BTR on mine) pass through the chassis rails with both speed sensor wheels on(looks wider)?
Any surprises?

Ribol give me as shout when you need to get yours out
Never mind give you a shout, having looked under there I am seriously considering giving you the keys - before I go on holiday

Is your diff like mine(BTR)? The distance between the chassis rails seems tight for it to come out with the sensor wheels on, is it an optical illusion?

BTR...Lift, push forward, Twist, Rotate & straight out through the rails

The reverse ain't as easy

I'm away the same time as you
