I heard yesterday from a franchised TVR dealer that Bridgestone is discontinuing its SO2 tyre. Apparently TVR is currently considering which tyre to fit in its place as standard. The new SO3 doesn't appear to offer the same wet weather performance as the outgoing tyre and is unlikely to be the preferred replacement. A possible choice could be the Toyo Proxes T1-S. Several new Tuscans have been supplied to the dealer wearing this tyre. Does anyone have any substantiated news? I'm interested as I'm about to buy a set of 18" Tuscan spider wheels (+ lock-stops) for my 1997 R-reg Cerbera 4.2. Clearly they will need tyres. Does anyone have experience of a Cerbera wearing Pirelli P-Zeroes? Many high performance cars wear them as standard (including the new Lamborghini Murcielago in Rosso form). I've been impressed with the level of grip offered by P-Zeros on my everyday Impreza.

A friend of mine has run S02s vs the Pirellis on his 'Grale and found the P-zero's to offer generally more grip in wet and dry conditions but they wear out a lot quicker (4000 miles!) and cost quite a bit more.
I have heard good things about the Toyos as well tho from a colleague who runs them on his Corrado.

I got SO3's on the back of my Chimaera, and actually think they are pretty good once bedded in! My full story is on the forum somewhere under 'tyres'

There is a whole load of replies on the Griffith BBS. Most of which is inconclusive except that we would like Bridgestone to carry on making the S02 .. check it out.
