You can't as I understand it as it does not have OBD systems

You can take it only on a show and display basis - which means you are limited to 2,000 miles per year travelling to and from events.

I thought non us citizens could take a car over for 12 months, then you have to (re) export it?

Does anyone have a definitive answer, or the experience?

Contact Marshall Moore, TVRCCNA, details in Sprint. He's useful to know for spares and other assistance when you are out there.

Have a look on this site here

The potential loophole to import a car for show and display is here, cannot do more than 2,500 miles in a year though and other restrictions.

I lived in Boston for just over 3 years. Took a Jensen FF out there with me which was exempt from everything as it was over 25 year's old. tried to bring out my Brabus Smart as well which is how I heard about the Show and Display loophole. I also tried the 12 month exemption but the paperwork was daunting to say the least and I had to prove that I would personally be returning permanently to the UK within 12 months (which I wasn't). It's not so much about how long you intend to keep the car in the US it's about how long you are going to stay in the US, any longer than 12 months and you are not regarded as a tourist and only tourists can temporarily import a vehicle for 12 months.
