Another important difference between TVR and Jaguar - while TVR have in general moved away from V8 to Straight Six engines for it's most popular models, Jaguar have done the opposite i.e. moved from Straight Six to V8 engines. Come to think of it Aston Martin have done the same, moving from Straight Six to V8 and V12 engines.
Are TVR going in the wrong direction?
When was the Jaguar XJRR first available? Surely £8 - 10K won't buy a XJRR, will it?

Jaguars biggest market is America. What do Americans require in their top-of-the-range cars? - A V8.
I'm sure that TVR have good reason to go the 6 cylinder route, maybe one of the engineers on the board can enlighten us as to the advantages/disadvantages ?

Get you Jag makes right. There's no such thing as a XJRR.
The green Coupe on Top Gear was a XKRR and Jaguar are not making going to be them.
The XJR however came in 2 forms. From 1994 - early 1997 it was a 320BHP supercharged straight six. These are the ones that are cheap.
From 1997 to early 2003 a 370BHP supercharged V8 (which I have). The latest XJR is a 4.2 V8 pushing out 400 BHP.

the reasons for the 6 are well-documented on the TVR website. The reasons are mainly weight, packaging/shape, and nature of power delivery - high rev screamer rather than lazy grunty V8.

I belive the reason tvr are going the straight six route is so they can enter the yank market, can't get the cats close enough to exhaust ports to heat up quickly with a v8, emissions an all that, they could make the car wider (jags etc) but then car gets hevier. With a six they have all the room they need, an it's a traditional brit layout. I'll stick to my v8 as long as they'll let me.

PS Straight sixes were the heroes of the 50s, 60s and 70s. Jaguars, Aston Martins, Healeys, etc. Apart from TVR and BMW who also make a cracking V8 who else uses straight sixes. Is it really a USA/V8 thing?

or anything i know they put 20 inch wheels on the XK-RR, they look ok, on the unlowered XK-R, they made it look like a bit of a Tonka toy- you can go OTT sometimes with wheels. Manual shift was interesting, 1 st time Jag did one was on X-Type, borrowed off the Mondeo. Probably a ZF unit the XK-RR though...

Belive me, jigs, I know an RS when I hear one - shame you didn't correct my 'mistake' - with your profound knowledge and inability to keep it or anything else to yourself.
