Hey mate,
I happen to know that there are 3 cancellations on the Trackday... so if you were to book your car on, the tickets would come too!

andy
I would like to get my hands on some tickets that allow access for Sunday though, anyone got any ideas

I did ring the car club office..... with no joy.
I find it very strange that an event such as this does not have an allowance available on the day, most odd

I agree,it all seems daft to me.I've been to many big days like this, organised by other clubs and organisations, and you can always go on the day without tickets. They would have had a much better turn out if they allowed people to turn up on the day without pre booking tickets. It's one thing to discount advance tickets, but advance ticket only is pretty crap imho

I must admit that we have quite a few members in the South-yorks region that won't be going next weekend because they couldn't comit to that date so far away, but now find out they can go but can't get a ticket, also some wanted to just go on one day but wouldn't pay £30 for one day only, it's a shame as I think the club has missed out on quiet a few ticket sales by not offering tickets on the gate.
Nevertheless I am sure it will be a cracker of a day, no matter what, because there has been a lot of hard work gone into the organising of the event.

Hi chaps
Missed out? Good point - probably in ultimate numbers but 1500 is not bad.
The issue was two fold, given this was the biggest thing we have ever put on, we had to be sure of the financial forecast against what we could commit to put on and that, critically, we would be able to resource it. It's a scary and incredibly complex thing, this one.
The financial equation has been spot on (thanks to Matt) and resourcing wise we can run the event. Many people have pledged time to help out and we are massively thankful for that. Given the resourcing levels, we would not have been able to cope with people turning up on the day
I guess with doing one this size for the first time, we wanted to ensure that we could do the best we could for the bums on seats that could commit up front. Conservative - maybe but we did not want to risk the 60th
In the future, once we have delivered Rockingham, we will have more confidence to fling open the doors further and have gained enough publicity and credibility to look at more creative ways of financing and sharing/mitigating the risk.
Long winded but though you deserved to see how we thought about this

Not easy this organising thing!
All those TVR chaps who say Oh ill come but cannot commit yet - then the weather takes a turn for the worse and no one attends leaving the club high and dry.
Damned if you do - etc
I know the guys will be looking at ways to make it a bit moe pic and mix next time round. Feedback will be a major consideration Im sure.
