What weekly and monthly checks should I do?

After a bit of advice please....

Having had the car 6 weeks (7 on Saturday ) I was wondering what best weekly/monthly checks to do?

I check weekly at the moment:
Oil
Water
Clutch
Tyres

What else should I be doing? PAS?

Any help gratefully received.

Check the pas hose for leaks periodically - the 'U' bend tends to drip.

Check the outriggers for damage on a monthly basis. Also flick stones out which get trapped between the bodywork and the outrigger (with a small screwdriver).

Put some rubber seal lubricant on the, err, rubber seals, every 3 or 4 months. Ditto hide food on the leather.

I used to change the oil every 6 months and bleed the brake fluid through, in addition to the servicing.

Also used to do a wheel off clean 3 or 4 times a year.

Waxoyl every year, after a full chassis clean (no steam cleaning, just get under there with some rags and white spirit. Touch up any stone chips on the chassis with rust cure then hammerite. Use stone chip paint on the outrigger tubes.

Thompsons water seal the roof twice a year.

Then everything is fine and dandy and your pride and joy will love you forever and never break down.

Well maybe!!

I hadn't checked mine for a couple of months, but then when I did I noticed it had a large hole in it and all the money had mysteriously drained away.
On closer inspection I noticed it had all gone on the repayments for my Tuscan.

Knowing the cost of running a Tuscan race car I reckon you could make a few bob offering this service to other Pistonheaders! Of course whilst doing on your own car is a labour of love doing it on others would become a chore! Rich...

How often do you use the car? How many miles do you do in a week? This will influence how often you should lift the bonnet.

Personally, I check oil, water, pas levels, visual check of tyres, lights and fan belts etc. before every trip. (W reg. Chimeara 4.5)

Use the car 5 days out of 7, do about 300 miles a week.

Its a thought Rich. Not sure how I would fit it in with my other jobs as an accountant on mergers and acquisitions, racing driver and international jewel thief/playboy (not yet got the hang of the last two....)
