Le Surrey Run; homage to Mr_T & Mrs_T

Same here. Fantastic job by both of you (and all the others who helped/donated etc)
Fantastic weekend only sadened slightly that now Mrs Fubes wants to come with me on future events, so thats the boy's weekends away down the pan!
The work that was put in to organise this to run so smoothly beggars belief, and the meal in the Caves under Mercier will take some 'topping'. 40 TVRs parked up at the old pits/stands at Reims whilst we took it in turns to howl past at well over 100 leptons was fanstastic

We were asked when we left the Eugene on Sunday if we owned the yellow one. Fantastic weekend only sadened slightly that now Mrs Fubes wants to come with me on future events, so thats the boy's weekends away down the pan!

Cheers guys. Thank you for all the wonderful comments about the "Diamonds are Forever" Champagne trip. It couldn't have worked out better. We have hundreds of photos to sift through but hope to get some of the best on here this evening. Our aim was to organise a truly memorable trip to one of our favourite bits of the world. As soon as we were taken into the Caveau Bacchus 18 months ago we had a feeling that it would be a night to remember. Steve and I were truly blown away by the surroundings, endless champagne, cuisine and company. It exceeded our expectations and will stay with us forever. I keep remembering certain things from the weekend and just keep smiling to myself.
As for the other parts of the weekend. What can I say...
Building Monkeh Bunkers on the beach at Boulogne certainly broke the ice and brought out the competitive streak in quite a few.
Le Chartreuse was as elegant as I had hoped for. La Distillerie was warm, cosy and had a friendly atmosphere. The hotels/champagne houses in and around Epernay had their own individual charm and character. The Reims GP experience was a blast and what a surprise that some of the friends of the circuit showed up to welcome us. Various TVR's "progressing" along the straight made fantastic viewing. The subsequent drive through the vineyards to the chateau was also stunning. As for Michel Gonet, Madame Gonet and their entire family, what a fabulous welcome to their private chateau and then their home next day for yet more champagne sampling. Sophie worked her socks off creating the hand painted bottles of vintage champagne.
As for the competitions held across the weekend.
The winner of the James Bond photo competition was Simon Cooper who scored 37 out of 39. Simon won a pair of "007" cufflinks for his superior Bond knowledge. Well done Simon. The winner of the lowest score for that competition (10/39) was Dave and Carol Lewis who win a tasteful set of coasters to put their Martini's on so they can sit and watch Bond Films to improve their character knowledge. Dave, I'll presemt these to you at the next monhtly meet. I actually think that Carol couldn't take her eyes off Daniel Craig coming out of ther sea and just stopped answering the questions.
Well done to everyone who entered the Bond Film anagram competition. I had so many correct entries that I had to draw a winner. Congratulations to Kevin and Sylvia Lees. You'll receive your prize at the next monhtly meet. Don't get too excited, it's a brushed aluminium business card holder with 007 engraved on it and a 007 keyring.
Agents, don't forget to watch your e-mail for your full debriefing.
Thanks to everyone to came along for being a part of this trip. Our TVR diamonds are forever!

Thanks so much for organising such a fantastic trip as has been said else where the location for Saturday night was inspired and will take some topping.
As outsiders and the furthest travellers, round trip of 1315 miles? (Plus a detour or two
) we where made to feel very welcome and met some lovely people.
Sorry you missed ferry home and we didn't get to say goodbye properly, but I'm sure whe'll meet again.

David, it was a pleasure having you and Julie at our table on both nights. It was a pity we couldn't be there to say cheerio but as they say in Top Gun "Never leave your wing man!". We made sure that Dave and Darren made their ferry and that Paul and Beverley were safely tucked up in a hotel and their car in a garage. You'd be inpressed at how early we got home, it's not far from Dover to Surbiton as the Cerb flies ;0)
Something tells me you'll be going back to Michel Gonet's place.
See you both soon!

It was superb.
Please send all photos to me as well and I would appreciate and comments and anecdotes (except any that relate to alleged incidents on the outbound ferry).
Reims was an eye-opener. Can you imagine the stands and facade of the pits being allowed to remain in this country? There'd be lawyers camped in the pits waiting for someone to be injured, frightened or given a headache, Mr and Mrs B. Body would be writing letters to their MP, local councilor, acupunturist and Woman's Own saying that such historical relics might encourage someone to drive so fast that a tortoise would get splattered and said MP would, if it was near an election, create some law that would make it illegal to drive along any straight road. There's a lot to be said for the French attitude in such matters.
Two great locations - Reims and the cavern. And lovely company.

So did Paul and Beverley stay in France?
There's a good chance we'll be back at Michel's

Edited by V8 GRF on Thursday 6th September 10:49
They didn't get a lot of choice on staying for an extra night - the gent who arrived to rescue the car would only take them to a hotel. We left them once they had a key for a room and I have had a text to say they got back to the UK ok and were preceding slowly home from Dover. Hopefully they got back in time for Beverly to start her new job on the Wednesday.
