I had cause to raise a report to the TVRCC forum moderators on 2 September 2007 about the content of a post. Since I had heard precisely nothing by way of response, on 4 September 2007 I sent a personal email to 4 TVRCC committee members, who I had been advised by another TVRCC official were also forum moderators, in case the original report had got lost somehow. This second email merely asked for an acknowledgement that the report had indeed been received. As of the evening of 7 September, still no response.

I wonder if an official from the TVRCC would care to comment.

Hi Paul,

I'm on the TVRCC Committee, but don't moderate on the Forums.

I know that Ralph, who does most of it, is on holiday, and am not sure who else assists him.

I will copy this posting to one or two Committe members who may be able to do something about it for you.

Apologies that you've not had a response sooner...

Consider it done.

Cheers - Howard

It's all right Howard I'm back now but still with an inbox of over 150 unread emails. I'm sorry that I didn;t respond to the second one Paul but until this flagged it up it was one of the unread. I have now responded.

If it's urgent then phone me. If it's not then send an email but accept that I will deal with them in my own time.

Thanks Howard, Ralph & Derek. It's not at all urgent. I was just beginning to think that despite emailing 4 moderators, my message had got lost in the ether.

To be fair, if you email a Car Club moderator I feel you should expect a reasonably quick reply - so I don't disagree with you one bit.

Had Ralph not been away I'm sure he would have sorted it immediately. He usually does bits for me quicker than a quick thing at it's quickest!

Anyway - glad you're sorted now.

Best regards - Howard

For which I am grateful - although your definition of immediately does not concur with that which is generally accepted. For the sake of clarification, you locked the thread the day following that on which I requested it - although I don't have a problem with that.

You'd like me to publicise it? Doesn't that rather negate the purpose of a report. If you are TVRCC moderator, you should have seen the report. Ralph has confirmed that he has.

Don't worry - it wasn't about you.

I tend to spend more of my time doing something constructive with a huge group of friends rather than spending most of my time giving others a hard time.

Still here Phil, but work is taking priority during the week & you know how busy the weekends arebiggrin

Hope to see you soon, give me a ring when you can.

I made a report which presumably went to all moderators (5?). I then sent an email through the TVRCC pm system to 4 different moderators. I had therefore tried 2 different methods of contacting several individuals on separate days. In my view a lack of response (for whatever reason- their systems could have been down for example) warranted a third method of contact. I know some don't like discussing club business in public, but that's life. I tried using the in-house methods - and it didn't work. I hope that's sufficient justification.

Yet another example of the "must not rock the boat" attitude I'm afraid. I wished to make a complaint about an offensive post. If that's what you regard as giving others a hard time, your're entitled to express that opinion. Should I not report an offensive post ?

Of course you should, but I could easily be offended by your accusation towards me of having a must not rock the boat attitude - which if you knew me you would realise is far from the truth.

You just carry on rocking the boat,& let others do their best to steer it in the right direction. Constructive critisism is fine & should be encouraged, but you do seem to be on a bit of a crusade to give everyone in office within the TVRCC a bit of a hard time.

You chose to quit the TVRCC forum despite many (myself included) suggesting you stay - thers just no pleasing you.

There - Ive said it, the locals can stop giving me a hard time for being diplomatic now!

The fact that you have equated the making of a report to forum moderators (the subject of this thread) with rocking the boat only serves to confirm my point.

You seem to be aware of the content of my report to imply that it does not contain any constructive criticism, which is of concern to me. I'm very dissappointed (but not surprised) that could have happened.

As I had already suspected, making this report was not worthwhile.

You assume too much - as ever.

I have no idea of the content of your report as it hasnt been discussed with me in any way, shape, or form.

Ive said it before & I'll say it again, if you want a frank & honest discussion about the TVRCC & its current set up come to a meet - I'll buy you a pint & will happily give you as much time as you need.

The TVRCC webmail spam filter is stopping an unknown but reasonably large number of emails. There's no order to this, sometimes my emails get through sometimes they don't and many other members are discovering that their e-mails aren't getting through either. If it's a 'whoever' @ tvrcc.com e-dress then the filter receives the email and reports it as 'received' then it chooses not to forward it. Unfortunately this means you don't get a mail router failure report. On one hand you have to forgive most people because they don't know you were trying to contact them, on the other hand the Club has known about this issue since July but has not informed their committee and have not done anything to address the problem. I'm sure they have prioritised things appropriately; I just wish they would inform the membership.

Thanks for the info. tvrbob. I hesitate to suggest that the TVRCC put a 1 line announcement on their site about such problems. I don't wish to overdo my criticism.
