soapboxRenewal time. Instead of falling for the old 'up it by 10%, nobody bothers hunting around at renewal' I started my homework early.

Now, call me old fashioned but isn't a broker supposed to hunt around for the best rolleyes deal as a way of earning the commission? So why, when I phone one, do I have to give all my details only to be passed on to another "specialist" broker or insurer who either requests all my details again or flick passes me to another company?

Oh, and if anyone from Allen & Allen is reading this the reason you're not getting my business is because you put me on hold TWICE without warning for 10 minutes and each time cut me off.

Oh, oh..........oh. And......and........AND. What's with the companies who say "If you get a better quote call us back and we'll match it"? That's just admitting you could charge me less if you felt like it!! Why should YOU get my business because a more enterprising company is prepared to offer me a cheaper premium? D'you think I washed up on the last tide? Go fist yourselves.

I didnt call them paperbag

Them and the AA used to give me really silly qoutes when I had the Pug, so since then I just dont bother calling them.
I was shocked by how much cheaper RAC was so I'm there now.

Try one of those on-line price comparison sites, I got a really good quote from Liverpool Victoria, (£340) also saves all those stupid questions on the phone only to be told that"we don't insure that type of vehicle sir".

In the days when I owned a Cossie, I just used to open the conversation with "Do you insure Cosworths?" That saved all the nonsense where they harvest your name & address for the junk mailers, then say they won't insure you.

I think it was Go compare.com or something similar, They gave me a list of about 20 companies ranging from the cheapest (Liverpool Victoria) through to the most expensive which was M & S.
Still had to go to the LV website though to get the quote proper.

Just had a thought, age does make a difference, but after looking at your list of previously owned, I think you may actually be older than me, biggrinbiggrin.

I'm 38, live in the old peoples town of Worthing where if an OAP finds his car ariel has been bent overnight it makes the front pages of the Worthing Herald the next morning !!

Tried the LV website but it said that my car was a Peugeot 307cc after entering the reg number and then when I tried to select from the list of TVRs (that included 'Tina' and 'Turbo') all the Chims were 3.0 2DR !!

I'll give them a ring tomorrow........

I have both my cars insured with A plan too. Best quotes on both, plus they gave me a discount on the second car, so they got my business. smile
