Engine problem
Discussion
Had all sort of problems with car since getting it back from a service. First the starter suddenly dies after a run. Managed to fix that.
The today whilst sitting in traffic I noticed the engine was not not idling a smoothly, it began to miss fire slightly before cutting out. Re-started the car - sounded like it was running on 7 cylinders, tried to blip the throttle only to see the engine die before picking up its revs.
Very baffled by this as it was perfect before going in for a service....any ideas?
The car's an 89 350i
Thanx

Tell me about it! Get this, the car is now dumping petrol from the fuel filter - not sure if this is connected to the cutting out problem.
I've rang and left a message with the people responsible, I've told them I'm not prepared to drive it now as its not safe.
Still owul like to know what the problem is.

Agree with heliox. Had a running problem on a previous car that ended up diagnosed as air being sucked into fuel line at crack in filter, throwing off injectors. Check its all tight and that the filter is not split. Fairly cheap to replace and worth it just to eliminate this if nothing else.
