Capacitor to suppress wiper motor radio interference?
Discussion
I'm trying to eliminate the radio intereference I get when the wipers are on. I've done quite a bit of earthing etc. in the past and the reception is generally pretty good but now its raining so much there is a very obvious problem when the wipers are on. It's worse on AM than FM as you'd expect.
I think I can fit a capacitor between the wiper motor +ve and earth but can anyone recommend the rating or how best to do it? Tried the PH search and Google, and Maplins, couldn't find much of any use.
Appreciate the help - last time I did this was on a Mini about 30 years ago and the brain has gone to mush since then...

I am far too young to remember that far back - however - if I were I would recommend you to get hold of a suppressor for a coil/dynamo which should be 1.0 microfarad and you should be sorted. Bolt the earthing bracket to the motor body somewhere with lead to motor supply. If you want to do a proper job put an additional earth to the same mounting as the suppressor.Alternator ones are usually 3.0 microfarad so not ideal.
