If you had spent quite a considerable amount of cash getting poly bushes fitted throughout and at a later date suffered a broken wishbone and took it back to the same garage for repair would you expect:

a) for them to spot the poly bushes and put poly bushes in the replacement wishbone
b) ignore the poly bushes and use the standard ones leaving the car with a mix of bushes

I would have told them what i wanted!biggrin........But if i'd forgotten to tell them, then i would have expected them to at least ask,or just replace with poly.

TBH I didn't even think when they told me (a year ago) that they'd do anything other than use poly bushes. As it wasn't that long before that they had done the whole car. Plus you'd surely notice the poly bushes on the broken wishbone when you took it off wouldn't you?

The only mitigation I can think of is that sometimes the wishbones come with the bushes already fitted. I which case you'd probably just take them out of the box and fit them?

Absolutely pathetic!
Poly bushes push in by hand and stand out like a sore thumb!
The wishbone must have come with bushes in and they simply couldn't be arsed pushing the standard bushes out to fit the poly ones.
Either that or Stevie Wonder was working there on a days placement......

At the moment I'm just guessing what may have happened (there is another possible scenario).

To be fair it could be an honest mistake/oversight so I'll wait an see.

I guess the important thing in this is how it gets resolved.

cheers.

Interesting (but not nice) that your wishbone broke. I did hear tales of poly bushes putting additional strain on them.

Do wishbones come in boxes? Mine didn't - should I complain?

Should have said in the first post - the reason we're questioning the bushes is that they need replacing as they have "moved" and melted near the exhaust - and I was asked if I wanted poly or normal. I was kinda surprised as the rest (and I thought all) the car was poly.

Anyway all sorted they will definitely be poly bushes later today.
