SMASH - recommendations for body repairs in SE??

To the Griff that is not me.....

Due to a couple of numpties not knowing what Give Way means I rear-ended a VW yesterday along the A30 to Staines as they blindly pulled out of the slip road ahead of me.

No-one hurt thank god and the VW driver has admitted full responsibility.

Some damage to the passenger wing, headlight recess pushed back (lights work) and the fibre glass crazed. Car still drives OK though.

Thing is I am with Direct Line and they will recommend where the repairs are conducted.

Anyone know or can recommend a good repair shop in Berks area? I have no idea how often Direct Lines "recommended repairers" will have attended to a Griff or similar

Ewelme Coachworks in Ewelme, Oxfordshire and Steve Williams in Eton Wick, Berks.

Regardless who you are insured with you can insist on someone skilled to do the job. Dont accept their recommendation unless they are a known TVR specialist.

I had some woman reverse into me and her insurers suggested I go to an Aston dealer! After a somewhat terse response they saw sense...

Specialist cars deserve specialist work...

Hes a Lotus specialist so is more than familiar with GRP.

His man Kevin did my Mini a while back though and it was a superb job, a fantastic sprayer!

Last time I was up there he had a load of Lotuses (Lotii?) that had been done and they all looked superb as well.

I can confirm the quality of repairs at Ewelme and was originally directed to Jon there by Norwich Union as he was their nearest approved repairer to Milton Keynes!!

Oi!! Watch it mate! Cheeky devil - 'nout wrong with a nice Audi convertible and I bet it is a heck of a lot better than the crappy hire car they may give you for that very long month or so whilst grizzly is being mended!! I feel a nice yellow or pink blush A2 diesel on the horizon or maybe a nice Ford Ka!! And by god I will take great pleasure in flooring the audi and leaving you standing (that is if indeed you get the hire car to do more than 20mph!!!)

If so, the flames spouting from the exhaust as you changed gear were very impressive

Nope, not me. After the accident at 2pm I took the Griff straight back home.

It's given me a thought though. If I ever find the woman who caused the crash a good exhaust lashing might be in order. She needs burning at the stake

Ouch! I have been smacked for that! I was the first to point out (being the main witness) that a dappy middle-aged lady pulled out in a snot green car without looking either forward or backward, let alone to the sides.....

....She drove into the distance - oblivious and ignorant....and the men were left to pick up the pieces....
