Insurance (following on from safety thread)
Discussion
To save ruining the other topic on safety with all the info about insurance, I thought I'd bring a fresh new topic.
As explained on the other thread, I've been looking around and have got a quote from elephant.co.uk (dont think i'd actually go with them) but for budget purposes, at 2-2.5k for a 4.2 or 4.5 cerbera (surprisingly there's not much difference).
I'm 22, 3yrs NCB, no accidents, convictions etc, previously owned 360bhp Escort Cosworth for 2 1/2yrs, am currently taking IAM Certificate (will pass later in year....hoefully) and also ROSPA Certificate (also too will come later in yr). Low mileage policy needed.
Could anyone suggest some TVR orientated insurers who may be able to help me? I wont actually be buying the Cerb until towards the end of this year anyway, but need to consider for budget purposes.
Many thanks
Tony

We're 30 somethings, the TVR (when we find "the one") will be registered in Mrs kdd's name, and insured by her with me named. We've both got clean licenses, and both have IAM certificates. Sunninghill are best so far with £637 (£400 xs, £100xs on theft, £60xs on glass, £1000xs on track).
It'll be in Mrs kdd's name, as we have 2 every day cars, and the shopping trolley we'd be keeping is in my name (Omega Estate -- look, it's practcal, just not very exciting, OK...), and we'll be swapping her 306 GTi-6 for the TVR.....

Hmm.... will call Peart later if I get time..... something tells me the sunninghill quote won't even be worth wiping my ar5e on now....

They came in about £200 above my final quote (on same the terms) but will of course treat each case on it's merits, so still sound them out.
Tesco were full of hidden extra's, so well out the picture at the end.

I've just transferred over from Mannings to Sunninghill as Sunninghill quoted £400 cheaper on my Tuscan S. Then I read recent postings on here about increases in premium, so I called Sunninghill direct. Sunninghill have confirmed that they have only increased premiums for those that have claimed, those that haven't have a claim in so many years will get the normally quotations...can only go on what they say.
Worth calling them anyhow.
Alan.

I was a new customer but with 18 years no claims,
aged 40 etc etc, quote jumped 50% from the last week
of May to the first week of June due to the 'changes'

Finally got around to calling Peart and Sunninghill:
Sunninghill revised their quote to £860 for the 15000 miles a year we will do, pointing out that lower miles = lower premium. (<6000=£588 & 6000-10000=£696).
Peart quoted £1000
Direct Line quote around £800 on-line (obviously no track day use here though).

Without scaremongering, please be aware that Mannings administration is (or was if they've changed in 6 months) not fantastic, and as a result of it I appeared to be driving around uninsured for 3 months in the Chimaera
, also they sent me the renewal invitation for the landrover the day after the policy ran out.. great.
Now with Sunninghill, and it was cheaper too.
Cheers

Nope hasn't changed. I had a "we don't have any record of you having insurance" call as well. Still, everyone has bad days and they do have a good policy at a good price.
I had my Griff when I was 22. Priviledge did the best deal then (3.5 years ago).
