Balls,

some inconsiderate friend has decided to get married in Ayia Napa, besides the name striking fear into my heart with visions of banging clubs and pissed english tourists it turns out is freaking impossible to get in and out of the island within the space of a couple of days! flights are only once or twice a week to the UK!!

I want to rock up the day before the wedding, pay my respects the following day, and fook off home the day after.

Doesnt seem to be possible by air.

Was thinking of doing a few days driving there and a few back again, any idea what its like driving through croatia/serbia/bosnia/albania?

Do I want to go through those countries in a TVR? (I know very little about those countries)

Or can I get a ferry from Italy to Greece and then on from greece to the silly little island?

cheers

The perfect excuse not to bother, then! Anyway, we couldn't possibly face another thread with you promising to post photos of the bridesmaids coffee

Lucky the GF has already left the house would be giving her a good slap round the back of the head for that...

I have never had any inclination to go to ANY of these "package holiday" type destinations in the sun. (I do winter hols) so I didnt have a freaking clue...

back to multimap to work out where cyprus is then...

Actually it does appear possible to drive to Cyprus - there is (according to lonely planet) a ferry service from Turkey.

I would go for it if I were you. biggrin

Cyprus is a divided country, Turkish governed North, Greek South where Ayia Nappa is. Make sure you can drive from the ferry port in North through to the South HTH

LP suggests that travel from N to S is possible.

However, I have found land borders 'flexible' in their requirements - this one I expect especially so.

The roads on Cyprus are riddled with pot holes and its very dusty not ideal TVR country .The local police are very keen with the speed cameras as well .
most islanders use 4by4 or pickups .

I hired an MX5 out there (Shhhh) & most of the roads aren't too bad & the police are more concerned with Drunk drivers thann speeders. Also as already stated Ayia Napa is actually not too bad now quite a good laugh especially if your not going in July / August?
