Decided to take the Chim out this afternoon for a bit of a run around the local country roads as have not had a chance to get it out since it was recently serviced. Had some new discs and pads at the service and some new rear tyres which I was trying to bed in.

Unfortunately as I was coming round a narrow L handed blind bend a complete to$$er in a white van came speeding round in the opposite direction well over on my side of the road. I rather foolishly slammed on the brakes and managed to lock the rear wheels, held my breath, then fishtailed a bit waiting for the inevitable spin which luckily never happened and I finally breathed out again as the van missed the side of the car by a gnats cock.

I would have turned round and gone after the guy in the white van if I had not been so shaken at the time. Not to confront him or anything but to get his plate and to find out which company he worked for as this was deacalled on the side of the van.

I'm just glad that there wasn't any damage.

Just one of those moments! eek

They really do just come out of nowhere - you can't drop your guard for a second.

Glad a pair of clean underpants is all that was needed!

Time for a calming beer methinks...

I had a similar thing happen to me last week,

I was driving along and a BMW 3 series which was parked up on a grass verge with its hazards on decided to do a speedy u turn across my nose into the oncoming traffic.

I instinctively accelerated and managed to squeeze through the narrowest of gaps and spent the next few minutes cursing and wondering how we didnt have a smash.... I think if I had braked instead of accelerated, I would have been looking at a heavily damaged tiv and he would have had his drivers door stoved in at about 50mph.

there are some right idiots out there.....
