came home sunday night to be greeted by neighbours who were really concerned how i was.fine thankyou said me,why? no-ones told you have they,they said,just as i noticed the ominous skid marks on the road leading to my drive.turns out a drunk young lad in his mates car[maybe]has left the road and clipped my griffith on the rear 1/4.these things happen says i,just as i turn round to see my old integrale pushed into the hedge.seems he clipped the rocks on the drive,rose into the air and drove over it!bugger.just waiting to find out if he is insured.

They will indemnify the driver against third party claims but strictly speaking the insurers could then endeavour to recover from the drunk driver.

I have been waiting for this all week....

Someone in my office lives near you mate...the story I heard is that the car was stolen and the bloke driving it was a tagged criminal let out on bail.....

He was arrested. I don't know any more info than that, but the cars you describe are the ones mentioned by my colleague....

Hung, drawn & quartered always seemed wrong to me too.

Surely it should be quatered, drawn & hung.

When they used to hang them, AFAIK they didn't hang them till they died, just enough to cause a hell of a lot of pain. They then cut them down and started with the other stuff.

Another favourite was to hang them in their own house and then pull their guts out of their mouth using a long hook - all while still alive.

Why do the law waste valuable time and money tagging these muppets if this sort of thing goes on? Should've kneecapped the scrote and got the job over with.

True but your insurers are indemnified(sp?) for uninsured loss recovery. There is a special fund setup that allows you to get your stuff paid for. The fund administrators then try to recover the money if they can locate the uninsured person. In this case it sounds like the Police have the perpetrator so that bit should be okay.

Unfortunately this can seriously affect your no-claims. I'm not sure if they have to locate the person, or actually recover the money, before the affect on your no-claims goes away.

Real nasty. Oh and if you are fully comp you end up having to pay your excess and trying to recover that from either the scote or the uninsured loss people (not sure which).

Sorry to add to your bad news but you need to be aware of it. If you have legal protection cover on your insurance get them involved ASAP and get them to spell out all of this properly for you.

the upside to all this is i am now famous!everyone i meet locally says "oh its you who owns the car the p***head tried to drive over".trying to sort insurance at the moment,but the main thing is the neighbours son who was nearby(and anyone else around)wasnt hurt.thank god.
