Does anyone have a recommendation for where I can get my Griff MOT'd at short notice (i.e. today!) in the Windsor area? I'm loathe to just pick a while-you-wait MOT place out of the yellow pages without a personal recommendation, in case they use it as an excuse to just thrash a fast car!

Cheers,
Pete

Pete,

I just had my MOT done by a place near HURST (berks) they are open Sat mornings although you need to book.

Berkshire Autos
Grange Farm, Nelsons Lane Hurst
Reading Berkshire
RG10 0RR

Tel: 0118 934 3114

They are cheap, flexible and understand that a TVR may not make a CO2 test mine passed anyway....!

Cheers,

Jon

Have you tried the Lucas garage in Datchet? I asked last time I was there and Steve said he tested TVRs - he's certainly MOT'd the Porsche in the past FWIW! Never taken a Tiv there, though, so I don't have first-hand knowledge of whether there'd be any emissions problems or whatever.

You can just turn up and wait, you don't need to book. Might be worth phoning if you're planning to go tomorrow morning, though - I gather things get a bit busy on Saturdays.

But IIRC they don't do Fridays...

I used a small garage in Windsor for the Griff. Next to the Texaco station at the bottom of Imperial Road where it meets with St. Leonards. Did it while I waited, took about 40 minutes and no problems. Last one they do is at 4:30pm.

Thanks for all the advice folks. I've booked it in to the place on St Leonard's Road for later this afternoon.

Just a follow up - as recommended by "donatien" I took the car to SG Autos on St Leonard's Road (next to the Texaco station), and it passed

They were very courteous and professional, and had just MOT'd an original Sierra Cosworth before the Griff. I'd recommend them if you're looking for an MOT in Windsor.

Happy Tivving,
Pete

HAd to take mine to a formula one as i got it back from crash repairs and they had forgot to MOT it for me this is 5 days before i was going to le Man and i could only get into a TIve dealer 1 day before the offski.
It passed no prob but i am sue they couldnt off checked everything as it took him 10 mins to start it and to find the door handle when he sat inside and me chuckling from the viewing window.
