If it's hosted at fasthosts, it'll be because they have a database problem. All my fasthosts hosted forums are down as well

Currently on hold waiting to tak to their tech dept. Started off in position 46.... so looks like it's affecting a lot of websites in the country.

Looks like it. I'm getting the same message. I've reported it to the TVRCC webmaster but I doubt there's much he can do if it's a problem with the hosting service as has been suggested.

I sepent 90 minutes on hold last night with the hosting company!!!! aaaarghhhhh

What's happened is that due to a hacking at their place last month, they forcably changed teh database passwords. they sent out an email warning that they were going to do this. Seems myself and many others either did'nt get it or read it thoroughly. A second reminder woudl have been nice.

So if the TVR forum is hosted using a database with fasthosts, they'll need to cahnge the database apsswords in the online control panel.

Not true you two trouble makers tongue out It's hardly going to go unnoticed with two such staunch rotweillers on guard tongue out

I noticed, as I suppose did others, but assumed that 'those in the know' would be working on it to get it sorted!

And now it has been sorted and is back on line...........

Thank you, I'm now leaving the building .........biggrin

I used the TVRCC website(quite enjoyed Unreps posts) then they changed the pasword system which is a joke.
This membership number already exists, new password, this email address already exists rolleyes please mail the webmaster,

A stupid and time consuming process which I just could not be bothered with.

Still its not much of a loss as Unrep keeps me amused here.

Me too. I really can't be arsed; if I don't go on for a while, I need to log on, password changed and all that stuff. The kind folks connected me a couple of times, but I don't really want to put them to the trouble and inconvenience. They've got the right to have a quiet night in as well as me.

Same here when I tried being a member for while. PH is 1000x better forum and that is all I need. I never even go to the front page of PH.

I think its a great shame that most club members dont use the club website, preferring to post here instead. I can totally understand why people make that choice and I think its a great shame for the club who are missing a huge trick. The club website should be their best marketing tool but it is woefully underused and I think a lot of the people involved there are quite happy with that situation, so nothing will be done while the old guard remain. In fact, far from making the site and forums more welcoming the only recent decisions taken seem to have been to increase the moderating which sometimes borders on the farcical. The threads that have been popular are generally the more "lively" ones and they are frowned upon. People jealously guard their territory, especially where the website is concerned and criticism is not tolerated.

I think youre dragging up old battles which are not relevant here in this thread.

The web site won an award didnt it?

Yes ok the log in is cumbersome but the site isnt half bad really - just needs using!

Eh? What old battles?

I'm responding to posts on this thread by people who are stating why they dont use the site. Maybe if the powers that be addressed the issue the site would be used more. At the moment 7000 odd members pay for a site used a handful which is hardly an equitable state of affairs. You make the point in your last comment Rich. Sure it needs using - what is being done to increase usage? Complicated logins that even some RO's have struggled with and increased modding? banghead

(Total posts on the TVRCC general forum today = 5 (including 3 by 1 overseas poster).

I agree that it should be easier to use

Other than that though I dont see over eager modding - it should be a pleasant helpful place where insults dont fly - we dont slag eachother off in the pub or on runs - so why do it on line - thats my point.

I never got any benefit from the TVRCC forum - waste of time.

Only useful place is PH for finding out good info, parts, mods, run, everything, they are alos like most car clubs don't really care about racing either.

just for Polishers as far as I could see.
