I've come back to the TVR fold
Discussion
Its been nearly 2 years since I sold the Chim......and I'm back! Just paid my deposit on a grey 2000 4.5 LW Cerbera from Fernies.......now I need some sleeping tablets to get me through the 1 1/2 weeks I have to wait to pick it up! Bugger!!
At least I'll have plenty of time to worry about the servicing costs that I've just commited myself to!
I plan to take the car to France for a 2 week break in about 3 weeks. Can anybody suggest the components of an essential spares kit that will help me out if I get stuck?
Cheers,
An already paranoid Rob!

Yep - just checked Rob, it's all under the post "taking Griff abroad". Lots of helpful info. all i have done is make sure it had a good check over at it's 42k service the other week and have just had one of Modwise's 2-stage cooling systems fitted which bring the fans on at half speed at whatever temp you set, say 85 degrees, then at full speed at a higher temp (all adjustable).
You can only do so much... and they're for driving right? If it breaks it breaks, if it doesn't, bloody good fun to be had all round!

get some AA europe cover and how bad can it be? Had a chim trucked back from the suisse normande ... for about £30 care of the AA ... hahahhaha ... driver/mechanic was an ex-rally driver and car nut. Good conversations and an elevated view of the countryside. Some compensation for the Chim sulking.

These are a good idea for a Griff/Chimaera etc, but its worth bearing in mind that the fan control on a Cerbera is fundamentally different and unlikely to be compatible with the Mod-Wise controller.

Hi all,
Thanks for the congrats people! Excited is not the word!
Pies,
That's the little bugger, it will have silver wheels on it by the time I get it though.
Mark,
Sorry for stealing your 'potential' car, I'll take good care of it and promise not to ever rev it past 7K!
Graham,
Already been on your site, looks good. When is the next meet? Anything relatively local to me, I'm at Waterloo.
ATG,
I had some AA cover in mind, can I just get car shipped back while I carry on holiday in rented eurobox?
Al,
Thanks for the thread, I'll take a look. Already told Furnies to take a look at clutch slave cylinder, cooling and aircon!
Beano500 and Claire,
Thanks!
I solved the sleeping problem last night with 2 bottles of wine, don't think I can keep that up for 2 weeks though. Can't believe how my girfriend has turned from completely disinterested to 'begging' for insurance. Think I've just aquired some very handy leverage ;->
Cheers all,
Rob
