S2 slow windscreen wiper motor
Discussion
Hi I have just become the owner of a 1989 S2 and two things that are obviously wrong one is the windscreen wipers are extremely slow as is the electric windows. I have read on the forum that the I will probably have to live with the slow windows but will have to sort out the wipers. Has anyone had this problem and does anyone know the cure. Cheers Alan

Yes, they all do that! Sorry I can't help much with the wiper motor query, but I'm sure if you post this in the S Series forum you will get some good advice. Welcome!
Strip the motor out and the rack assembly, degrease the rack and re-grease. strip the motor, check for continuity on the armature that you haven't got a segment down, again, degrease and re-grease the casing. Rebuild time. if the motor doesn't start first time, give the armature a tap with a light hammer, it should then start. re-set the armature end float and it should be better.
These motors are a doddle to strip and re-assemble
if you grease the side window runners with silicone grease, it should help too
