Quite excited.

Just got a call from a mate who wants me to help him out. He wants me to run an errand for him on Thursday.
He wants me to go to silverstone on Thursday - meet David Coulthard who is going to sign a number of things (pictures/cards etc...). I then have to blatt off to the printers in record time to ensure that some such printing deadline is met.

I would like to get him to sign something for me whilst I am there - but what? I have no F1 'stuff' at home and need to sort something. Is the track shop likely to be open or can someone recommend a web-site that can deliver something in a timely manner?

I wonder what the chances are of getting a pic of him in my cerb are?

Get him to sign your car somewhere in the engine bay and get a pic of him doing it. Would certainly add some novelty value if you ever sell the car!

Piece of paper for autograph with carbon paper underneath with a cheque made out to CASH?

Failing that pop into Central MK and go to the M&S end of the centre, there's a famous person autograph shop there, they might have an unsigned cheap photo of David to buy, but suggest taking a few with you and offer the spares to the shop owner to buy? As long as DC will sign 3 or 20?

Dont forget that DC isnt a car fan in particular and so wont be interested in a cerbera.
My parents know his parents and they have met him a few times, I didnt bother with his autograph. Whats he ever done!!
One of my neighbours is, shall we say, in with McLaren (I cant elaborate any more) and he feels that this is it for DC. The test driver (forgotten his name) is doing well and ready to step in.
Cant you download some images from the web, print them off and get those signed?
How about a pair of Y-fronts?

There is only one thing that he should sign and that is a surrender document to MICHAEL SCHUMACHER the greatest F1 driver ever

Nice one Tony!

Def get a pic of him in the car and (as aaandy said) signing the engine bay - providing you can get the car anywhere near him (probably end up getting directed to a muddy field 4 miles from the circuit - even on the Thursday )
Enjoy the day - I'm there on Friday

I think I am more excited about getting paid to do something I would do for free than meeting DC. Just like setting off fireworks...ahem!

It is all arranged - I am there on behalf of an F1 art company - they make posters and books. I think I have a whole bunch of originals to get signed and then need to speed them of somewhere urgently apparently to get reproduced. I assume he will be getting paid for his signatures.

Ah, I've just realised it is the Gp this weekend...D'oh!

Given DC's recent record, how about taking him an AA Roadside Recovery application form?

That explains the relative lack of performance then, lack of passion and no petrol in the viens .

I have 400 pictures/paintings for him to sign. He gets £25 per picture. Will prob take an hour and a half for him to sign. I have access all the way through to the paddock and up to his tralier with the Cerb.

The company I am going on behalf of did Schumacher two years ago - £250 per signature!! I always suspected he was an arse.

10k for 400 pics?

I used to book his private travel and I'd happiliy sign
1000 pics for 1k - Any takers?

He was nice to work with, more than I can say about Jackie Stewart!

Have a great time Noodles and don't forget your camera,
although it might cost you £100 for a picture of DC
with the Cerbera! ( Maybe we can put it on TCR? )

Go create some weather...

Personally I would'nt let that poop excuse for an F1 driver any where near my Cerb (if I had one).
Probably a nice enough guy, but a waste of a decent seat in F1.
He has been in nothing but the best cars in F1 and done budder all with it.

Have a nice time anyway T.

Silverstone has certainly changed since I was there last - they have sorted all the roads out at last!

I performed my task admirably I think - despite the rain. Upon arrival I got ushered into an overflow car park as I had no pass. I called my contact a chap called Martin who spoke to a guy on the gate who let me through and guided me to the trailers. I then had to wait for an hour for Martin to turn up during which time I saw Villeneuve and Wilson. Martin turned out to be that chap off ITV - Brundle. I wasn't aware that he was DC's manager/agent or whatever it is exactly he does. He commented that the cerb was a "fine choice" which was nice. He seemed to have died his hair a gingery colour and was looking rather effete!

The art I had to get signed was an Oil painting by a guy called Alan Fearnley - it was a superb painting. He somehow managed to get the metal to lok like metal and the feeling of movement in the painting was superb - it was of Coulthard going for it with Montoya spinning out in the background.

Some chap from another F1 art company turned up Brundle sent him packing saying David would not have enough time. I am not sure whether it was the 13k cheque I had for them or the picture itself that got me to the front of the queue.

Shoes off - into trailer - DC sat there looking quite bored. 1 hour later of pretty much silence and he was done. I was sat there keeping the pencils sharp and handing the pictures over. He signed the original on the back and dated it and then signed 400 numbered prints in the bottom left.

400 prints that are now for sale at £500 each - staggering - his signature turned those prints into a goldmine - 200k.

I sort of bottled it and was very quiet and didn't ask for anything to be signed that wasn't already agreed. I was quite taken aback with the whole occassion/plush trailer/total silence etc...

I have to do another one in a couple of weeks for a superbike chap who is apparently quite well known - all I can remember is that he has won something big and his name begins with a J.

I took a few pictures of the trailers, DC signing etc.. and can post them when I get permission from the company I was there on behalf of. Hopefully this pm.

Tony
