Chaps

Just thought you might like to know that there is a cure for the slippery Griffmera seats and its called a CG lock.

Its a little device you attach to the belt buckle which turns the lap portion of the belt into a fixed harness. Obviously its not as good as a full harness but its a lot better than standard.

I bought one at the Autosport show and while I had to fit it the other way round as specified (naturally TVR buckles are the opposite way round to everyone else) it works a treat!

Holds me in the seat well enough to make the car feel much more confidence inspiring down a bumpy country lane and is also more comfortable on a long journey as it won't allow any slouching with associated bad posture.

Only took 5 minutes to fit and set up

one of the best £40 I've spent on the car in a long time wink

and no I don't work for them or on commission

I bought one at the show as well. Saw the special show price of £39.99 and thought great, I wil have one of those! However 5 minutes after I bought it I saw it in the GPR catalogue I picked up at £34! not much of difference I know but I was stil miffed that I had been done over on the special offer thing.

I don't understand why you need the reversing bracket?

It works fine and isn't uncomfortable the other way round?

Mmmm, glad I was not tempted then as the price on Saturday ' to you Sir, special show price...' was £45!

After using a pair for a year or so I got sick of the release leaver sticking in my side. On longer trips it will start to irritate you. I took them off in the end and started using them for track only. With the reversing bracket I can leave them on all the time, it's as if they weren't there.

I used to have these in my car but dont any more, i got fed up of mine .. the belt slides through the CG lock buckley bit and you end up reaching down and retensioning the belt every 2-3 laps or so. damn irritating and I thought that it was less safe to be retensioning it than just leaving it off altogether.

I had a little go in the seat at the show, and although I could feel the difference wasn't entirely convinced so didnt get one in the end and gonna get a harness smile

Rather disappointed you were not convinced! :-( Track and Race Car mag, Circuit Driver, EVO, Autocar have all thrashed the device around circuits and been totally convinced... the static 'wobbly chair' doesn't really do justice to the device... the first roundabout it the real clincher!!

Full harnesses are the real deal... perfect for the track... be sure to fit a full roll bar and if used on the road check your insurance to avoid a disaster!!... oh and at T-junctions, when it is raining... good luck!!

When you add VAT and shipping it is a lot more!!!

I must say, I'm very pleased with the CG lock. On track the difference is very noticeable, more control over the car, not sliding from side to side, no need to hang on to the wheel while cornering. I can keep up the pace longer with the CG lock. For me it was a very good investment. I bought mine when it was first introduced here on PH and we did a group buy, can't remember how long ago that was though (age kicks in).

Thats still a very tight 'special show price' though! You havent even dropped as much as the VAT,like many traders do.You can hardly claim the lack of shipping as part of your deal,as it would be bl88dy cheeky seeing as the customer carries it home-no different to if they called to your business pemises to buy it?If the customer asked you to post it,and you did so foc, then that would be fair enough.
I must admit,i would have tried one if the show 'special offer' was a little better.

I've got one and pretty happy with it - does what I expected and much cheaper than changing the seats which I had considered.

Only problem is that sliding locking bar doesn't want to stay put - has fallen off a couple of times when I undo the belt.

Any suggestions?

GPR were doing prices less 17.5% on the day and most stands were doing free shipping too so potentially cheaper if you haggled the delivery cost? bought 400 pounds worth of stuff on the day at GPR and the staff were excellent smile

Good point about the harnesses - I have a CG Lock that I used in my Griff and now in my Scooby - love it. But the thought of being in my Griff rolling, without the ability to duck because of a full harness, and only a fibre-glass windscreen surround to protect my bonce makes me shudder!

Turn it round 180° and slide it on the other way then it doesn't catch so readily

They are good but if you are going on holiday to the states buy it there. The usual £=$ issue so you will get it much cheaper.
