Do HCC still do TVR? I remember my dad took a test drive in a Chimaera there agggggggges ago. I think he'll be wanting to buy one, and will obviously want to go to an approved dealer. Also, what are the impending signs of doom on a TVR (ie what shows all four wheels are about to fall off?)

HHC are now Drive Style and don't believe all you here about TVRs being unreliable, things do go wrong but only like on other marque's, I had a Chimaera for over 3 years and all was ok and I am not the only one, they
are brilliant to drive, own and the people you meet are fantastic, go to your local TVRCC meet and find out more about the cars and people and you will see what I mean.

What is an approve dealer? There is no dealer network - TVR is no more. Chims are old anyhow and so the dealer stamp adds no value.

I Found Track V Road at Clitheroe a great place to buy. I had a look at Drivestyle but found them a bit too pushy.

There is no such thing as a TVR dealer really since the fall of TVR but if your looking for the old dealer network then DriveStyle is the one in Harrogate
Phil is the main salesman
If you are looking for advice and a few cars to see then come along to the TVRCC meetings and we'll do our best to help you out smile

You've got a choice of sticking in Yorkshire to buy from HHC/Drivestyle in Harrogate or James Birkby at TVR Mads who is based in Bradford.

Or you can make the journey down to Clitheroe and buy from the guys at Track V Road who are getting nothing but rave reviews at the moment!

The local TVR meets in Yorkshire are:

Yorks & humberside:
Woolpack - Esholt
1st Monday of the month (evenings)

West Yorks:
Manor Golf Club, Drighlington
3 Sunday of every month (early afternoons)

North Yorkshire:
Chequers Inn - Bilton in Ainsty
Not sure of the dates (morning/afternoon)

There is no such thing as an approved dealership anymore, but there are plenty of people that can be trusted.

You missed out Sports and Specialist Cars in Yorkshire for sales and servicing, RT racing and TJ Motors for servicing.

Scott,
A naughty question perhaps, and no suggestion that there are issues with those above - but how certain are you that there is no network, and how certain are you that the three you quote can be trusted??

Morning John wavey

Oh christ I forgot about SSC yikes and RT....never heard of TJ motors though

What I meant about no network was more or less refering to the factory supported dealer network with there being no factory or no new cars so to speak

As for the three Ive listed:

Drivestyle have always had a good reputation as far as Ive heard from people who have dealt with them

Most of us know Rich and the guys from Track V Road and trust them for their honest and efficient service with all things TVR, not to mention their honest opinions.....you two ganged up on me and twisted my arm severely to buy a 390/400SE when the time is right laugh

As for Mr Birkby Ive met him on a couple of occasions, he appears to be a trustworthy and pleasant sort of chap and his cars always seem to be well looked after....even the badly painted Tuscan that he recently sold as a track slag, the mechanics on the car seemed fantastic (I went to see it for someone looking to buy)

Mr Haggas has his Griff for sale there at the moment too smile

I was going to suggest Hexham Horseless as I know their reputation is pretty much spot on and they must be trust worthy to gain your endorsement yes but Nick was looking for Yorkshire based smile

All the old HHC guys have gone from Drivestyle unfortunately.

I'm using SSCC for servicing now and I have to say that my car has never been better presented than when I collected it from them after my service. They also sell cars from their showroom in Boroughbridge.

I disagree, i use Hexham HC, if you use an approved TVR garage you know the quality of work is good. I wouldnt trust anyone else with it and the service is 2nd to none.

Ok cheers chaps. Will bookmarks this thread for future reference. We have a TVR owner in the village that my dad knows, so I reckon he'd be able to come down and check it over, as he's got a lot more experience of owning a TVR.

I am hoping to have some work done with SSCC in Boroughbridge (when the necessary parts materialise!). I've been there before when I was looking to buy my first TVR and like Mr Waggit's approach which is good if you're new to TVR. He has a good range of cars too and is involved in motorsport.
Note I said Mr Waggit, not John, as I don't know him.
Drivestyle - cor blimey they have some machinery!

Not all "approved" TVR garages are the same. He's been lucky to be landed with one of the best "dealers" - I'll not labour the point....

I wouldn't trust our P&Js to anyone else.
