Been down to Austec today to help with the wiring of their "all-new"(tm) rolling road booth.

It's all been a bit 'up-in-the-air' since they moved premises, but I am pleased to report things are really starting to take shape!

In addition to the rolling road - which should be back up and running this week, things in the pipeline include a brand new spray booth, new SOTA machine shop, extensive stores of off-the-shelf parts, new dyno cell(s) as well as many other projects that will prove [fake chinese voice]velly intelesting[/fake chinese voice]...

Paul is more than aware of the inconvenience that has been caused by the relocation process, and is inherently grateful for the patience and understanding of his customers, but if everything goes as planned in the next couple of months, and from what I've seen, then things are looking promising indeed...

Good luck to them says I... beer

Do you know the maximum HP the rolling road will take.

Not sure its either 700 or 1000 from my very grey memory, I'm sure Neil will be along to correct me as he is probably setting it up for them.

Absolute power aside its the ability to hold the car at WOT and select the revs (speed) you want the car to sit at on the fly impresses me the most, very handy for looking at flat spots in the delivery. Never thought I would see a slope steep enough to hold the Cerb but this can simulate it, most unnerving.

600bhp at each roller set (ie - 1200 for a 4WD) IIRC.

The engine dyno (to be re-commissioned in the next couple of months) is rated at 800bhp.

My Griff is being resprayed at the moment, it's been at Austec's for a few weeks now. The new premises although very spacious was just a shell when Paul took it over, a huge amount of work was needed to get the place working as a place where you would be happy to leave your P&J.
It's now getting there, a huge effort has been made by Paul and the guys at Austec, it's not easy when you have to completely refurbish a building while you're still supplying a service to your customers.
On a personal basis, a huge thank-you to Jason who's been carrying out the repairs and respraying of mt car, despite having to use another workshop's spray booth the finished job is looking absolutely superb.

Many thanks for your efforts guys and all the best for the future.clapclap

I was down there last weekend.... Paul seemed a bit surprised to see me, but it was only a minor issue booked in during the week, so nothing to bother him with really.

Had a good look around..... and yes there is a lot of work that needs doing and is is being done as well...... but so much more space and ramps ( IIRC I counted 7 )

The mechanics as helpful as ever.........

Good luck to Paul and his team.... and fingers crossed that they will be firing on all cylinders v soon.

Neil I thought each axle set was rated at 520KW roughly 700bhp, that's what the bumpf for the Maha LPS3000 says confused, is something else limiting it or is my understanding cronk confused

Well, there's more room for cutomer cars as my Cerb has finally left the place. woohoo

Can only reaffirm what Neil said. The place is coming together nicely. There was a lot of work to be done, but the guys are getting there.

Also nice to see Paul has employed a full time general manager, in the shape of the well known East Sussex TVRCC member (still RO?) Richard 'Bodmin' Flittner, who's impact on Austec is already beeing seen in the way things are moving forward quickly. Also frees up Paul's time to do what he does best...fixing cars or mamiing them faster. smile

Good luck chaps thumbup

Probably not, but a relaunch do is definitely on the cards, as are some track based events akin to the Santa Pod day of a couple of years back...

Thank`s Fubar & Rev bow

Rev the cheques in the post wink

We are in the process of converting an ex-commercial lorry workshop which is approx four times the size of the old premesis. At present we have builders in converting the large open span workshop into defined work areas. There are exciting plans in the pipeline which we will reveal as they come to fruition....as they say 'watch this space'.

There has been some staff restructuring & the team we now have assembled are 100% committed to the future of the business & looking after your P&J's. We now have a very well respected engine builder, David Martin, who worked for Aston Martin for approx 40 years....supprisingly he has already spotted some engineering simlarities between the Aston six & the Speed Six engines....& I don`t just mean they both have six pistons. This means there may be some shared development potential.

I am in the process of reviewing every part of the business & have already put in place new processes which will ultimatley benefit you, the customer.

The conversion work is due for completion at the end of February & we intend to have a relaunch/open day in April with all the 'bells & whistles'. We will release a date as soon as we can nail the builders down to a date....slippery as eels, no offence meant.....we are even considering barricading them in laugh

We are still able to continue with our service/mechanical repair facilities as some of you have already made use of & as mentioned above we are intending to have the rolling road up & running this week. Paul is itching to get back to doing what he does best & the new sound insulated rolling road booth is like a new baby to him....mind you I hav'nt caught him will the baby oil yet yikes

Regards,

Richard Flittner aka Bodmin

No news to speak of Harry. As you say, need to get the running in miles done (only 850 miles to go sleep) before we can get him on the rollers and set up. I can tell you it looks like a new engine...Dave the engine builder has painted it all, shame I'll just go and get it all dirty again paperbag

And for the first time in my ownership, the engine is oil leak free woohoo and it feels as tight as a mouse's ear'ole wink...oh and the clacking noise has gone smile

Shall report back when I have some news smile

ETA Oh and what a great time for my mileometer to get stuck clicking over onto 48000...just when I need to judge how many running in miles Ive done...bloody cars! rofl...but Christ have I missed him smile...women look at me again wink...kids/dogs cry/cower when I pass...and managed to set off 3 car alarms in the neighbouring village yesterday cloud9

hehe
