Stuck in a job too far from home, I'm racking up the miles at a frightening rate on my Cerbera and have been looking at getting a runabout for the commutes.

Norwich Union Direct serve me well on the Cerbera but wouldn't cover a second car on the same policy and wanted £660 TPFT on a £1,500 Rover 114 with 0 NCD!! (£100 less than fully comp on the Cerbie!)

As my renewal is due this weekend, I'd appreciate some recommendations from anybody who has two cars covered by one policy.

Thanks,

Richard

I'd shop around. You could transfer your NCB to the Rover and then approach a specialist TVR insurer for the Cerb - they might match the NCD as such companies seem to have different rules.

As the cars are so different in nature it might be that two policies, each with different preferences, is the best way to go.

Dont know why your havin the problem... Ive had a trevor for years and always got my ncd on my other TWO cars. Your very talented if you can drive them all at the same time. The only thing that affects it is if you are not the only named driver.

I work for Norwich Union Direct. They WILL mirror your NCD, as an introductory this (if you have 5 or more years) will stay at 70% as long as you hold the policies while building up separate NCD on the second car, just demand that the sales person talks to the Underwriters and gets it sorted.

n.b. as long as no claims and clean licence.

Try that, if that doesn’t work, email me and ill have a word, see what I can do.

'I work for norwich union direct.... underwrighters'

Under*whats*? You sure you work for an insurance company? You worry me!!!

Technically you are only allowed/should only have one NCD per vehicle. True, you can't drive more than one at once, but you could get into car 1 and smash it up, then get into car 2 and do the same - hence it is a double risk. (And I don't even work for an insurance company!)

Is this forum for aiding people with queries? Or is it for ridiculing people? WOW!! I made a grammatical error.
As you clearly do say you don’t work for an insurance company so.... as you don't, you don’t understand 100% how it works, even if you did work in insurance you don’t know how NUD operate their policies.

I do hence I am passing on my advice and knowledge to someone who asked for exactly that. Does this trouble you or inconvenience you in some way? Is my trying to help someone so offensive to you? Does me helping someone open me up to mockery?

Have you helped? Or have you just sat there and felt your tiny balls swell a little as it felt so great, big and hard for typing something derogatory about someone who actually had something of useful to say.

I worry you?? You worry me. I thought people were supposed to grow out of that sort of behaviour when they leave school. Say something useful, then you wont have to try and pull others down to try and look cool!! Did your mother never tell you “if you have nothing good to say don’t say anything at all”?

Anyhow, Richard Rawlins good luck, keep me posted.

I had the same problem with my Jag XJR (soon to be Cerbera!) and Cavalier. Tesco and Quoteline direct prices have been surprisingly competitive. Tesco required me to get two policies, one for Jag with full NCD and one for the Cavalier with no NCD, but the prices were on the correct side of £400 for the 1.8i Cavalier and under £600 for the Jag (group 20)..

Give Sunninghill a try ....

I had the Griff with them and bought a runabout which left me in the same boat ie. Full NCD on the tiv on 0 on the banger.

They allowed me to use the full discount on both and when I had run through my first full year on the second car they told me I now had full NCD on both cars, transferrable to another insurer if I desired.

I was pleasantly surprised.

Keep your hair on Pookie. I'm sorry if you had a bad day. Some people like to get things right and learn as they go along, others don't care. I happen to be the former. If you hadn't worked for an insurance company I would have let it go.

'Is this forum for aiding people with queries?'

Yes - I almost always do, or at least try my best.

'Or is it for ridiculing people?'

I'm sorry if you feel ridiculous.

'As you clearly do say you don’t work for an insurance company so.... as you don't, you don’t understand 100% how it works, even if you did work in insurance you don’t know how NUD operate their policies.'

Correct.

'I do hence I am passing on my advice and knowledge to someone who asked for exactly that. Does this trouble you or inconvenience you in some way?'

No.

'Is my trying to help someone so offensive to you?'

No.

'Does me helping someone open me up to mockery?'

I am sorry if you feel mocked. I was - er - simply passing on my advice and knowledge, to use your phrase.

'Have you helped?'

Yes. Now you can spell 'underwriter', which may help you in your profession.

'Or have you just sat there and felt your tiny balls swell a little as it felt so great, big and hard for typing something derogatory about someone who actually had something of useful to say.'

I think you're developing a bit of a silly complex here. Go and get some air.

'I thought people were supposed to grow out of that sort of behaviour when they leave school.'

By the time I left school I could spell.
