Hello peeps - whilst I was waiting at Gatwick Airport for another delayed flight, to pick-up (all a rave now - speed dating is sooo yesterday wink)a friend (Taxi miss...), I bought a copy of CAR magazine - which has a write-up on 'ten of the best' unrestricted autobahns and the count down for them to be restricted and/or having tolls:

So 'ow about a hoon to cover some of the best unrestricted autobahns? Before the Euro-Nanny bans us from using our cars, roads...and even cities (apparently you now need a 'special emission pass' (AND PAY) to enter some cities in Germany - and I thought Ken was mad!)

As luck would have it, there is already a German forum meeting taking place in the Black Forest in May (8th-12th)

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

So a cunning plan:

- autobahns
- a lap or two of the Ring (about 6 hrs to the Ring from Calais)
- more autobahns
- Black Forest meet (about 4 hrs from the Ring)
- more autobahns
- on the way back, come via the Stelvio pass (will it be open?)... (about 5 hrs from the Black Forest)
- Epernay for stocking up on some champers (about 9 hrs from the Stelvio)
- home (about 4 hrs back to Calais)

If we did the whole lot then perhaps 3/4 nights 4/5 days? (Fri-Mon/Tue)

I am sure the guys from the Black Forest meet - could give us some pointers about routes/autobahns and some may even join us...ummh and international May-bahn?

Or am I getting a bit carried away on a Monday morning? Thoughts, lists, all welcome

Lets get planning....

f wink

Hi there

The Black-Forrest guys have booked a nearby airfield for friday of this weekend. It´s not the ring but should be lots of fun anyway. See you there.

Cheers Jens

Jens - thanks for the update, was not sure of the prog in the Black Forest - access to airfield sounds like good fun!!!

Will re-consider final plans once the prog is released. I really fancy doing the Stelvio and this looks like a great excuse.

Another option is to drive straight to the Black Forest and then do Stelvio and Route Napolean (sp?)

Fusion1 - it might b just u and me, by the looks of it...
