BMW aims to become bigger noise
Discussion
I see from 'The Times' Motoring Section today (page 30) that BMW 'has decided to make it newest sports car noisier' and .......'the goal with the Z4 has been to pump as much engine noise into the two-seat cabin as possible'. It seems that our teutonic pals have finally worked out what Blackpool's finest have known all along that hearing the engine is what 'floats most people's boats' as they say. BMW apparently have 100 accoustic engineers to help them do this (as well as preumably make other cars quiet at the other end of the spectrum). One can't help but feel that a quick call to the TVR boys would have given them all the advice they needed. Laugh? I nearly cried.......
I went for ride in somebody’s new Z4 last weekend. The engine/exhaust noise is pathetic by TVR standards – it was barely discernable most of the time. A very well put together car though, with excellent ride compared to the Z3.
When I took the owner out in my car for a quick xxx mph blast down the “mad-mile” in Surrey all he kept going on about was the great TVR exhaust note
